Beautiful .... I really like the looks of that peachy pink one. I have not seen any around here this year. :-(
I've been a bad boy...
:-)))))))))))))
I like being confused with someone who has such a beautiful variety of Oleanders.
When we bought our home there were fourteen 8' Oleanders and within a few months they sucombed to a virus spread by a tiny bug. It was so sad to have to pull all of those huge dead plants out. After that we were afraid to try any more but a volunteer seedling grew and thrived and is now 10' x 10'. So, maybe it is time to try some more. Sandy, you have an amazing variety .
alice (the Oleander deprived one)
i'm just curious whether the people in the north have the oleander caterpillar, it's the larvae of the uncle sam moth.
ardesia, we had a terrible oleander scale in the keys, it kills and i tried everything to eradicate it, nothing worked. when it finished the oleander, it spread to other plants. when we moved up here to central florida, i bought a couple of oleanders thinking that finally i could have them again. they have it now and are dying. we have to cut them down and get rid of them before they spread to other areas. it looks like snow scale or like you sprinkled the stems with powdered sugar. it is nasty stuff. even up north, anyone buying oleander, please look at your plants very, very carefully. if you see any white, any at all, don't buy it!!!
i do have a problem with my leaves turning yellow and falling off. what do you think is causing this?
I didn't have any scale, my plants just withered and croaked. When you cut a stem you could see that the pith in the middle was completely dry and the plants were unable to take up any water into their stems/leaves. I sent samples off to be tested and the diagnosis was some type of virus and later I learned that a small insect was the vector that spread the disease.
I don't know if the plant I have now is naturally resistant or if the disease has run it's course around here.
Somewhere in my records I have the name of the virus and the insect; will try to find them. a
Alice would you like some cuttings? I need to cut them back. Anyone else? postage only.
Jlmk,

eclipse, that gold is beautiful! if you don't mind me asking, where do you get all these interesting oleanders? i'm so tired of the same, boring ones we have around here.
Wow interesting to see so much like for the oleander. Here in Phoenix most consider it
to be something along the lines of an invasive weed. I happen to like them though. We have some that are 12ft high between my parents house and mine and they bloom like crazy here even in our hot sun.
That's one reason why I like them. They can take the sweltering heat and humidity without 'batting an eye'. ;) And the blooms are pretty too.

ashley I just keep my eyes open at greenhouses, online and at conservatories when I travel and do some trading and ta da! lots of kinds. I am going to use oleanders along the street next year in place of the tree hibiscus, something different. :-)
I have 15 hybrid oleander seedlings near blooming size now at work, I crossed the double yellow X single dark red...each seedling is different, some dwarf, some little leaves others real robust.Am curious to see what blooms. :-)
Now who is teasing who???? hummmm?? LOL
Moi???? :-) LOL
Yes Moi :o) LOL What else are you hiding from me?? :oD?? It is show and tell time. LOL
