World's newest coffee trees

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

Here is a shot of my most recent germinations. I think I got just about 100% germination. Drilled holes in the pericarps of the beans with only minor damage to a finger. Potted the penetrated seeds and kept them moist. That's it. No acid. No soaking. No nothing else, and a nice crop of plants two weeks later. Will have these to give or trade in the fall if anyone is interested.

Foreground, left to right. Caryopteris divaricata "Snow Fairy," a great perennial that usually looks much better than that example. In the middle, I think, is a lily seedling a friend gave to me. Last, and this goes out to VV especially, is yet a whole 'nother crop of that ba$tuhd Beuerlein's brood. Yep, a hundred or so Viburnum nudum seedlings, all needing desperately to be potted up (and homes). Any takers?

You're making it too easy for Juan Valdez - I am assuming you grow these to get beans?

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

These beans would not be to Juan's liking. These would appeal more to Davey Crockett, but not for a cup of joe. Might be better to ram into a barrel and shoot at a bear!

Here is one of my second year Coffeetrees (in the foreground). The photo is less than a week old.
If I remember right I drilled the seed covering. I don't know thats it necessary.
After its been exposed to the elements for a while, I've noticed that Coffeetree seeds turn fairly soft.

It has been de-leaved almost entirely to conserve energy.
Its still alive, I expect it to recover, only time will tell.
I'm afraid it had a pretty big lack of watering for a while. And I think it probably isn't happy about its root situation, in a pot. The plan though is to find a place to plant it sometime soon.
All my seedlings are in pots and I just can't water them as much as they need.
Since I've noticed the lack of leaves on many seedlings I try to water everyday if possible.

I would love to trade for a coffeetree in the fall if you have enough. I have several things and will davemail you.

Me? I'd send you a Coffeetree bareroot in the Fall. Not sure how it would do in CA, but not the first time I'm sure plants have gone to other zones.
I rent here, I don't own so I can't take on anymore plants right now. My Grandmother is my land-lady and I think she's on the verge of bulldozing all my plants into a big pile for pick up when I'm not here!
Thanks for the offer to trade me though.
If you reimburse me for postage that is good enuff.
You don't have to Dmail me, my email is inventedwheel@yahoo.com.

Now, I just hope you were talking to me!

Will
