Not A TRADE a request :)

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7a)

Teresa, you bring tears to my eyes - thanks for your nice words!!

Many years ago when my stepson was a toddler, his parents were told he would never talk, walk, etc. - that he was very retarded. HA!

In school his IQ was said to be around 60 - HA! Maybe in some areas, but overall, I would say Mike is gifted, like I am sure they will find your son to be. Now socially Mike's skills are that of a young teen, or pre-teen, but intellectually I would say he is far above average. I introduced him to computers and the Internet about five years ago and within no time at all I was asking HIM for help!!

He has some personal issues (hygiene, temper tantrums) that are that of a little child and will probably always be a challenge, but for the most part he is an impressive young man - and has a smile that lights up a room (I hear they also used to say that about his mother who passed away iin 1990 - Mike was 23). He has been employed as a courtesy clerk at a Safeway Store in Seattle for almost 10 years and, although he occasionally needs to be told to focus, etc., he is an icon in the store and customers would be up-in-arms if he was ever let go! He has a job coach who is my role model, to say the least.

I sincerely hope you win this contest - and I will add that I am appalled that Blayke's medical costs aren't covered in full, that you are instead having to pay more. I just shake my head in dismay when I hear such things - something's very wrong with this picture (overused phrase, I admit, but rather appropriate in such cases!).

Hugs to your son and fingers crossed for you!

Looks like you are taking the lead by storm. :-) A great book, if you've not read it isThere's a BOY in HERE, Emerging from the bonds of Autism written by a mom and her now adult Autistic son. Judy and Sean Barron. The back cover says Autism from the outside in, and a paragraph by the mom, and then ... and from the inside out and a paragraph from the son. It recalls her side of the story, and his back and forth, what she saw/felt, what he saw/felt. It's an easy read and a really good book.
It was a required text for me this semester. :-)
pssst.... if you use both Internet Explorer and Mozilla firefox, you can vote once with each browswer. :0)

Those sound wonderful; you've got my vote.
I plan to make some of those yummy sounding bars and send them to Iraq. My neighbor's daughter is serving over there and it is always nice to find a recipe that will ship well. Will have to leave out the choco chips as they melt and make a mess in the heat over there but I'll substitute something.
Thanks and good luck.

I printed out the recipe and am going to try it as soon as I get flax seed and chocolate chips.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

I have flax seed and chocolate chips, it's the agave nectar that I'm struggling with. Can I use honey instead?

Corpus Christi, TX(Zone 9a)

I voted for you also, but don't have any agave on hand for the recipe. Good Luck!!! You are leading the pack at this point. Barb

Teresa I hope you don't mind but I copied your post and posted it in General discussions and the pet forum. Gotta get all the votes you can.

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7a)

Tortoisekeeper - great idea!!!! I've voted on both my computer on Firefox AND Explorer. I was trying to think of other ways to reach people (beside those I've sent the info to privately).

This is not just about winning, but about helping pay an innocent child's medical bills!!! (And it does sound like an incredibly good recipe - I've printed it out, but haven't picked up all the ingredients yet.)
