This forum is so lucky to have an expert

Ron is so helpful with all the answers he has about what sort of Ipomoeas everyone is stumped about.
I wish all the forums had a person like him to turn to when there are technical questions.
Before I read his posts and answers in other messages I never realised that there were such subtle differences in some types.
The only downside to morning glories is that I have to get up early enough to see them bloom. LOL That is probably why my favorite is Pearly Gates, since for me it stays open a long time. I see I have some more fancy ones blooming but unfortunately, I overslept and they were just the closed bloom that had already displayed itself.
I do know one is a Cornel and I just have to get up tomorrow and see if there are more blooms. It isn't any fun missing out on them.

Well Windy,it's nice to know I have some secret admirers out there...because when it comes to the 'technical' aspects of the (as you so well noted)

"such subtle differences in some types."

There are alot of people who can become 'irked' at the details, but not every posting is for everyone...people enjoy the gardenwebs in different ways...there are, however, more people who are becoming genuinely intrigued by the subtle differences and truely enjoy deciphering the different species and types...

The flowers are obviously easily enjoyed visually simply by looking at them, but as more people become interested to grow multiple varieties at the same time, knowing how to differentiate between species that will or will not cross fertilize is becoming increasingly pertinent...

I just try to share what I can for those that 'have ears' for the information...

I'm looking forward to more people learning controlled hand pollination of the different Morning Glories to increase the variety of features people would enjoy...

TTY,...

Ron

P.S. Although I appreciate the intention,I prefer not to be called an expert......how about 'fledgling aficionado'...(??)...(eyes rolling)...

I SECOND THAT, Windy....

I appreciate Ron very much and I wanna be the President of his 'Fan Club'.

Seriously, Ron IS a wealth of information, and even though I have to read his 'technicals' sometimes more than one time - I enjoy learning from him. AND, I appreciate the time that Ron takes to help each of us with our questions.

Absolutely. I wish that all the forums that I frequent had someone as knowlegable about that particular forum topic. And to have someone who is so willing to share his knowledge and patiently answer our many many questions. We are so lucky. thank you , Ron.

He should have some sort of an insignia by his name like the Ubers do.
I hope I am not embarrassing Ron, but it is confusing sometimes to get information that is just guess work from someone. He has the genuine answers.
Now I am not saying others don't have answers, I am speaking of the technical scientific stuff. LOL

I admit that I have to skip over alot of the technical info - way over my head, but I'm always learning from his posts and appreciate the personal notes he sends with added info.

I am luck that my Texas Wine is climbing up the shadowed side of the Wishing Well - and is under a very large leaf. He stays shaded and cool and remains open until noonish.
