This just came in the mail, today. I'll take another picture when the bloom opens. I fell in love with this one.
Star of Bethelem
The espicia has one little stolen on it. Both plants are small. Hopefully I can share this fall. I understand both of these grow very fast.
Allison the little stolen is yours if you would like it. You have been so generous with me.
You can see a picture of the blooms on Violet Barn site.

They are so cute! WTG Nanna!
Janis
I am sure your chirita will do great. Those both look very healthy!
Wow Nanna that's so cute !
So nice of you I'd love her. I have grown many of her but gave my last one away .
To me I fount she grew a little slower than others .
Who is the seller ?
Oh PS she is an Episcia !
Yes, I know. I got her from Rob. The stolen is very small; about 1/2 inch. I will take good care of her until she is ready to take off.
can't wait to see it when buds open nanna! keep us posted : ) it is going to be a beauty! i saw a picture of it in rob's catalog.
kelly
Both are beautiful... Nanna you are going to love that Bethlehem Star bloom! It's adorable.
MsC
Nanna you confused me when you said you got Donna Marie and I never heard of this Chirita before Thought there are many I never have heard of.
I think your Chirita is Diane Marie ! I grew a couple of this one by a leaf Lorry . It's a real pretty one !
Their easy to grow . I know you will enjoy it !
Never grown a chirita. I will be needed lots of advise.
I am also easily confused. lol
They like it dry , Cool . ( Can take temps' of 40 and be happy) They like small tight pots. They can be trans-planted once a year or even every 2-3. There's a great link in second sticky on how to grow Chirita's.
Nanna do you have a picture of your Chirita Diane Marie !
It's the second picture on this thread. It is very young; but the leaves are very pretty. There is a picture of a mature plant on Rob's site.
The tight pots and transplanting one a year is the same as strep, right?
The strep I divided about 6 weeks ago is doing great. I have 4 plants from the 1. Just gave one away this morning. All 4 have lots of buds. The one I gave away this morning was in bloom. I have leaves down. They still do not have babies, but they are alive.
Sorry Nanna I saw it went right over my head. My mind is lost.
Yes it's a pretty Chirita. I have two babies of her I grew by a leaf from Lorry.
Yes to me Chiritas are a little like Streps liking to be on the dry side and cool temps.
Yet different ~
I do re-pot my Streps often. They seem to like fresh soil mix and new clean pots when Chirtia's Believe it or not, these are plants that will appreciate a crusty lime buildup!
I like this article on how to grow Chirtia's
http://www.maavs.org/html/growing_cheritas.htm
This was my baby back in Oct 2005 .. and I had not had it long it grow and progates fast.
Gorgeous, Nanna.
I looked up photos of the blossoms and I saw right away that I gotta get me one of dem dare Episcia "Star of Bethlehem". Have never grown a Episcia or Chirita, so I guess I better get at it! Especially after seeing your plants.
Don Ü
Oh Don you will LOVE them :)
Both chiritas and episcia are very easy to grow :)
nan..Your new babies are just GORGEOUS :) thanks for sharing with us!
Don I will try to fit a Chirita in one of your boxes !
Oh, Allison! What are we to do with you? You are too kind.
Hugs,
Don Ü
Thanks for the info, Allison. Very helpful.. Now I just need to figure out what kind of water I have and if I need to give the chirita some lime.
Chirita Diane Marie
Is a very slow grower
David
I noticed this of Chirita Diane Marie compared to my other Chirita's too David.
Nanna I just water mine the same water as AV's. Mine all get sink water.
The few mature plants I have grow nice and bloom a lot. Their in natural light no room under lights..maybe someday.
I have my espicia in natural light and they love it.
I need to decide where to put the chirita. Right now she is under a smaller light with some new av's. They are resting from their trip until I decide what to do with them.
I really like the serrated edge of Donna Marie as well as the pattern in the leaves. Being a slow grower, I will have time to decide where her home will be.
Thanks for all your help, everyone. This is a great place to be. I was talking to a women the other day about my collection and you could tell she thought I was a little weird.
Nice to come home and talk to y'all.
Nanna sorry but your Chirita's name is Diane Marie !
Nanna you have the Vinage plant ;
Wisteria (2056) 01/08/1970 (F. Tinari) Double lavender. Plain, glossy. Large ??
I have one for you if you'd enjoy. I know you like the Vintage.
I can ship next week with your ;
Lilian Sparkler , Cajun Popcorn , and Wrangler's Green Also so a Vintage !
Well with most chirita is slow growing other grow like tree like sp New York their is other that grow hugh. I have noticed some of the chirita that put off stolen some put off stolen ready while does not. I have usbrg 98-083 than never put off a stolen I have about 4 years now.
David
Allison, I have two plants.
1. Donna Marie/ chirita
and
2. Star of Bethlehem/espicia.
I would love a Wisteria, too. Thanks Allison. Do you still have my address?
My Chirita sinensis 'Hisako' I got last Fall Sept. baby ~ AND YOU can see pictures above it has grown like a weed ! Also I rooted and grew many good size babies I gave away ~ And gave many leaves off this same plant !
So it has grown and bloomed super for me !
Now i am waiting for my Chirita eburnea to bloom it's full of buds !
Nanna do you maybe have your Chirita's name mis-labeled ?
I never heard of Donna But I have and Rob sell's
*** Diane Marie. The prettiest of them all. Medium violet-purple blooms over exquisite, heavily notched leaves mottled silver. Compact
Great will send a real nice Wisteria next week with the other three plants !
C. 'Diane Marie' is a registered hybrid by Robert Stewart. It is a cross of Chirita sinensis var. angustifolia and an unidentified Chirita species ))

BINGO!! You hit the nail on the head, Allison. I said Donna, but it is Diane. Sorry! Sorry! Sorry!. Thanks for being so kind about my mistake.
I will be excited to get the new plants.
Tomorrow, I will be spending the day in the "plant room" (which is really a bedroom that has turned into a "collectable" (junk) room. I read in Grow to Show that where ever you have your plants should be a place of peace and enjoyment. Boy do I have my work cut out for me.
Are you still having problems with the centers of some of your plants? I ended up throwing away AATrail. I have pulled some others that are suspect and am watering only alter they are dry to the touch. Can't imagine what's going on.
Got it cool !
I was not having trouble with my plants.. I think it was you and Jill. Sorry you had to throw your plant out it was so beautiful
Nanna, I have babies off my leaf of AATrail you sent me, I can mark one of the first ones for you if you want, I would be very happy to do that for you since you gave it to me
Janis
or if you're heading up this way, you can pick up a new AATrail (or 3, LOL) from me. Janis, is your leaf pot producing tons of babies the way mine did? Other than Cambridge Missy, I think those were my most prolific leaves.
"Just sent one off to Jill today !"
oh! a Chirita!! I'm so excited.... looking forward to getting my wonderful box tomorrow, Allison!
I can't wait for you to get your box tomorrow Jill !
Anna got her Chimera gift from me today ! Anyone else get boxes !
