They were about 8 inches high and all the leaves are stripped off and sitting in little piles around the stem. Did the same thing to the sweet potato cuttings. I saw him/her in action a few times, but couldn't catch it. Garlic spray didn't seem to deter the bugger. Do you think the stems will survive if I keep watering them? And is the end of June too late to start over in zone 6 b? I am just ill! Going to try growing them inside hardware wire cylinders next time. Argh!
Chipmunks stripped the leaves of my MG's!
They should put out some new leaves if the leaf nodes next to the old leaves weren't damaged.

Do you have access to Milorganite, the slow release fertilizer? I was having a terrible time with chipmunks igging up everyhing, until I started using it a year ago, both in pots and in plants on the ground. A quarter of a teaspoon will do it, and that one sprinkling lasts through rain and works for the entire season. Chipmunks can't stand the smell, and will leave your plants alone. They still run through my yard to my neighbors' yards.

Thanks for the tip - it's on my next shopping list!
