Summer Bulbs - Pictures and Discussion - Part Deux

OMG! That certainly is NOT what you were expecting! Isn't it fustrating when you pay a lot of money and order something that you have your heart set on and then it turns out to be something totally different!

I came home from a trip to Vt and found some lilies open. I was trilled as I have been just feeding the rabbits and deer with my lilies for years ( though we did find two lilies completely munched and then found a hole in the fence that a rabbit had chewed through. Where is my gun?) Patti

Patti, who is that dark centered beauty??

Denver, CO

Ditto?

It is a van Bourgondien Asiatic Starburst. One of the speckled series (not sure I would like the others) I planted a few others from them, Boogie Woogie, Landini, Nettie's Pride, Cancun, Fata Morgana and Monte Negro. The are all coming along, but alas so are the rabbits who have breached my deer fence and are zooming in on the lilies. Back to the stinky spray. Patti

Wow! I hope no one got hurt!!!

Tammy, no one got hurt because the town cancelled the fireworks tonight due to fog. So mine were the only game in town tonight. kaboom. Can't wait to see what pops tomorrow! Patti

Tammy what are the agapanthus called? I have flower buds on Peter Pan, some are shy to flower.

Nice Gold band, it looks to have L auratum in it's breeding, one I wish to succumb to.

I don't know if any of you are watching the progress of my 'evil eye' Dahlia Vancouver in the Dahlia forum, here it is so far yesteday.

Beautiful Tammy- love blue flowers. Are they reliably hardy for you? Also love the containers with alpine plants and rock wall :)

Janet, your dahlia really looks like an eye in the center! Lovely!

Ah, the evil eye! Perfect name. I haven't posted any of my lilies. I guess the blackjack fiasco made me grumpy. Right now these are blooming.
Chianti.

This was my first year with Chianti. I sure did love it! Hope it comes back for me in hot houston.
Boojum I would have been grumpy also

I didn't take photos of monte negro or the pale yellow lily (can't remember the name in the heat-got to use all available excuses) because they were kinda a mess!
Yesterday, Shocking opened. Here's a pic. Imagine great fragrance as you look!
And Conca D'Or is opening as we "speak."

Hi vossner! I love chianti, too. I love the pinks that have a touch of warmth to them. Sometimes I put them next to purple pinks for contrast and to make them warmer. Today I could get grumpy from the hot humid weather. You prolly take the heat in stride, but I've lived in New England for almost 40 years for a reason-no brains in heat. Right now I'm in my air conditioned bedroom on my bed with my laptop. Sorta like this.

Boojum, Eurydice and Tiger Babies are very special and nice indeed!

Since this thread is getting long and we're not close to finished, I took the liberty to start Part 3. Here's the link:
