Mountain Stewartia....

Ellijay, GA(Zone 7a)

.....started blooming yesterday. First flowers are in very top of tree(~20') and getting detailed pic, even with 10X zoom, is difficult . Smaller specimens have buds within 6' of ground and should provide opportunity for some closeups!!!

Beautiful, conifer! I've been trying to find a stewartia to plant in the fall; does anyone know of a good online nursery that stocks it?

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

For some reason the native stewartias are impossible to find in nurseries. I have never seen S. ovata offered, and I have only seen S. malacodendron offered by one (Mail Order Natives). I don't know why they are so rare in the trade.

Apparently this plant is very rare on both fronts..........nurseries and its native haunts! The greatest concentrations I know of is on my property and I'm familiar with lots of "country".

Lots of blooms were open today and here is a detailed pic!!!

Man, my conifer50 seed order for fall is getting really big.

Illinois, IL(Zone 5b)

Golden eggs sound good to me, thanks! But please include some instructions because I understand they are tough to grow.
