How long do these plants take to bloom?

How long does it take lilac and beauty bush to bloom if they were grown from seed?

Raleigh, NC(Zone 7b)

I have both of them, but I bought each and I would guess at least a few years depending on the amt of sun, water and fert that they get.

Illinois, IL(Zone 5b)

I've grown Korean beautybush from seed and as I recall it took about three years. I suspect the native one would be about the same. Can't tell you about lilacs other than the Asian tree species (S. pekinensis, S. reticulata) which take several years.

Lilacs can be 10-15 years (tho' sometimes a bit less)

Wow... That's really dissapointing about the lilacs..

I think the southern heat-tolerent bred ones bloom much faster-like Miss Kim etc
