Pattbar, thanks for reminding me about google 'earth'. I did Sheffield, Iceland and the suburb of Richmond, Nelson where we live. Could not actually find our house but did find the shopping centre which is a two minute drive away. We are three minutes from the ocean and five minutes drive the other way we are in the countryside. The closeness sea does not affect my garden, salt laden winds reach here, in fact, because Nelson is situated in a wide bay surrounded by hills and further back mountains we have an ideal gardening climate. The prevailing winds are westerleys which come from over the mountains.
I see your city is not far away from Nottingham which is where my husband's great grandparents emigrated from. I saw a pic of your archway in one of Ranny's threads, clematis and roses, very pretty.
Rannie,
I did enjoy looking through the links, your garden is just so lovely. All the plants I love are there. I t was like taking a mini tour around Iceland and those pugginns and terns were so interesting to see.
Now we are in a new week, need to post a pic of my favourite plant this week. This is a fuchsia called Preston Guild which has just started to flower. The blooms are and delicate but seem smaller than when I bought the plant last Autumn. But perhaps my memory is at fault rather than my gardening methods. Lol
FAVOURITE PLANT THIS WEEK
That is a very pretty fuchsia - love the color! :-) Glad you enjoyed the photos - I'll be posting more on the photos forum when I get a chance :-)
The photos forum? I was trying to find where I could have a look at forums other than the ones I was watching but couldn't work out where to go! I don't know why because I have lookedthrough them before. Lol
ferrymead, the tabs at the top next to the 'home' tab. 'Garden Talk' has all the garden forums, 'Home Talk' anything else, including the Photos Forum. There is also one on Photography, for technical help.
Rannveig, do you have seeds for your primula waltonii?
Laurie - no I don't, sorry, I don't think it has set seed. I'll need to check that next summer. I haven't collected much primula seed - I'll need to try that next year :-)
Wallaby, thanks for that but I almost wish I hadn't been in and had a look at all the sites, I feel a bit guilty about how long I spend looking at all the forums I had and a few more may mean more time sitting at the computer.LOL
Hey you're the boss!
Dale those are all pretty - the poinsettias are stunning!!! Nothing going on in the garden at this time of year - it's been very windy and wet for 4 days straight now ......
