First of my Asiatic seedlings to bloom

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

I love the lilies having a species type form and open inflorescences. I believe these are into their 4th year of bloom.

Up close. This yellow has raised papillae and is spotless.

Another view. There are a number of offsets at the base.

Your yellow seedling is spectacular. Looks good, strong, maybe a tet? Do you know the parentage?

Of course, I'm waiting for your pardalinums.

Inanda, I don't think it's a tet. Unfortunately I lost the labels long ago. But they are from asiatic mixes from Cascade Bulb and Seed. I suspect they are from the mix having davidii hybrids as one parent. I believe some upcoming blooms I am expecting soon are George Slate hybrids and are more pastel in shades of salmon and peach.

My garden journal notes that the pardies started their bloom on June 25 last year... stay tuned!

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 2b)

I'm going to use pumilum pollen on Geo Slate. Geo Slate both ways on Red Velvet, Black Velvet and I think Katinka. Think I'll use Claude Shride pollen all over the place.. Just to see what happens.

Was too busy with NALS last year so am going to make up for things this year.

Was told tonight tht a boarded up crack house across the street is to be pulled down as too bad to be renovated. Once I find out if this is true, I'll be at city hall begging them to leave it empty for a community garden.

I/ll be waiting foryour pards. pix.

Your seedlings are beautiful! I've been entranced with the pendulous and recurved blooming lilies for the last couple of years, and those are scrump. And the orange having fragrance is exciting! Any idea as to where in it's genetic make-up the fragrance comes from?

I have no idea where the fragrance came from, Neal. It's raining today and the fragrance is much subdued. The problem with the yellow is low bud count, only 8 or so buds. The orange one has around 13 or so buds. These are around 4-4.5 feet tall and well established so I guess it's the best they will do. I'll have more seedlings bloom in the next few weeks, some with 20+ bud count.

Can't wait to see what's to come!
