Oh that is so beautiful! Love the color. I tried growing calla lilies last year but they never bloomed and they didnt come back this year. OTOH, they were Walmart closeouts and maybe I planted too late. I may have to try again next year.

I'm in Zone 6 and I have beautiful calla lilys. Some gold and some are varigated (orange/gold). I planted them last spring and they came back full force this year.

Looks like Naomi Campbell, it's one of my favorites too.

Mudblood, I really think it depends on where you get them - and places like the big stores are not the best choice, unfortunately.

Love the deep color, I hope to try some soon, do you know how long the bloom lasts and how soon after the foilage grew did the bloom arrive.

Thanks Neil

Thanks everyone! I love it too!

I will try answer some of your questions. I bought a bag of 3 calla lilies at Walmart. This is one that was in the bag. I bought the bag because I loved this particular Calla Lily. I planted it March 18, 2006. I can't remember exactly when it started to poke through the ground, but this picture shows it on 05-31-2006. And you can see on the right side one of the other ones is poking through, although smaller. And the other one has yet to appear. I paid $6.50 for the bag of three.

The first Calla Lily I ever bought was a pink one and I knew nothing about them. Good thing, or they probably wouldn't be in my garden because later I found out you were supposed to dig them up here and store them for the winter. I didn't do that since I didn't know. But every year they come back bigger and better and bloom most of the summer without digging them up for winter. ;o). I will post a picture of the pink ones I started with in the next post.

I have bought many things from Walmart and Lowes and have been very happy with most of my purchases. But that's just me. Hope some of this helped with your questions.

Here are the first Calla Lilies I ever bought. They were in a small pot from KMart (when they were still here) and have done well wiithout being dug up in the winter. They stay in the ground all year. They bloom most of the summer.

I leave my white one in over the winter, and just received and planted a Plum Pretty pink one - can I leave that one in, do you think, or should I dig it, to be safe?
