What are these? I just had to have them.

I don't know if this is OT or not since I'm not sure what these are. I saw these at HD and they were just calling my name so I got them. So now what? Should I put them in a pot or in a hanging basket?

Jesse, they are begonias. I think you can plant them in pots or hanging baskets. They will look lovely in them.

They're begonias - wax begonias, I believe. I've had them in hanging baskets and pots and they're beautiful both places!

Whoops, I was typing when Spider answered you. Well, I second the vote, then! LOL

Oh wow. I have wanted some begonias but I didn't know much about them or how they even looked. I keep hearing everyone talking about them so I wanted some. I'm so glad that this is what they are. Does anyone know how much sun they can take? Can I put them in a hanging basket to put outside on my porch or do they need more shade? I'm also thinking of making a terrarium and putting some of my mini AVs in it. Would these be okay for that? I would only put one of them in the terrarium and put the other two in a hanging basket if that would work.

You can plant them in a hanging basket and hang on the porch. Make sure you don't let them dry out to much.

Jesse, you have begonia semperflorens. They are great all around landscape plants and are generally treated as annuals but can be perennial if protected from the cold. I bring them into my greenhouse for the winter, which gets down to the mid 40's. Mine bloomed all winter in there.

They're super easy to grow and can take a full gamut of conditions, except maybe deeeeeeep dark shade where they'll get leggy. Our summers here get in the the 110-115º tems and I've seen them grown if full sun. We have no humidity here, it's as dry as a bone. So I can't say for sure how they'll do in NC.

When they start getting taller or if they get leggy, pinch back and put the cuttings in your perlite tray just like you do your AV's. Dont let them dry out and you'll have new begonia-babies in about 4 weeks! (roots in 2-3, then pot them up!)

One of my favorites is a double pink pom-pom type bloom.
