I bought a pair of "Holey Soles" also from Lee Valley Online, and I am hooked, got them for gardening shoes, and quickly changed them to my house slippers - see lots of this type of shoe being worn more and more, they are SO comfy!
I'm going to get myself some more, maybe try the Crocs brand, since they have a better colour range than the others.
"Crocs" not just trendy...help for sore feet and legs
I also live in my crocs and as soon as I saw the flip flops I grabbed a pair of those too. I like the black -on-black and couldn't find anymore so ordered from online. I tend to get as much as I can (when I find something I think is necessary to my life),so ordered 3 pair of the flip flops. I'm already thinking that wasn't enough. How long will I live? Will they stop making them. Glad to learn of the different sizing depending on where they are made. Mine were from Boulder just like the ones I got at Henry's/Wild Oats. And they came in just a couple of days. Before I knew about Crocs, I bought the look-alikes at WM and they were nowhere near as comfortable, but then I didn't get them as large, either. Perhaps we should buy stock in Crocs. Up until now I lived in my Birkenstocks, but these really take a beating, washable and cheaper.

My sister gave me her Crocks. I had never seen them. They look kind of duck billish. I have blue. They look wird but I don't care. I wear them everywere!!! I'ts like walking on a cloud. It feals like you have bedroom slippers on. I walked for hours at the mall and my feet didn't hurt. I can't say enough how wounderful they are. I can't wait till I can get a care in bleack and a pair of flip flops.

I have peripherial neuropathy in my feet. Walking had become almost impossible for more than a few minutes in ANY shoe. I had to retire from teaching. I went to a nursery and one of the workers was wearing Crocs . At that time I had never heard of them. I asked about them and she told me pretty much what everyone on here is saying - that she walked many a mile each day at work and walking in the crocs was wonderful. I told her I would never be able to wear anything like them, that all I could wear anymore was good jogging shoes. She begged me to go try a pair so I did. I finally bought a pair and wore them , thinking I might be able to stand them for an hour the first day. I ended up being able to keep them on the whole day !!! Unbelievable for me! The pain in my feet is 24/7 but in the crocs it was lessened. My mom has neuropathy, too, so I bought her a pair. She also did not believe she would be able to wear shoes like this. She now has about 4 pair and I have about 7 ! I don't go for the loud colors, but there are plenty of other colors to choose from.
corgimom...how wonderful that you have found relief! I was starting to have sore feet more and more despite wearing my Crocs but started taking MSM and now my foor pain is reduce about 75%!
They now have new collegiate Croc's ....what is MSM?
Its a natural supplement.
Among other things its a natural anti-inflammatory.
Look it up online.
I found this thread and had to laugh!
My son, 20, is in college and just loathes "Crocs" and makes fun of me to no end! (Mine are navy, no neon colors). I, the seasoned gardener, HAVE to have something washable to wear when doing yard/gardening- I've ruined my LAST pair of good walking shoes with mud, grass, and doggy-doo! When you compare Crocs to replacing the perfect $80 pair of walker/cross trainers, they are very cheap, indeed! Of course, what's ruining it for us are the teen and college fashionistas who hate them. My son printed out and gave to me text from a "Crocs Are Ugly" web site!!! Apparently some kids posted Pro-Croc messages, and the text is the arguments for and against. I just have to sigh and remember what it was like to have the time to argue with friends about such silly stuff!!!!
Good grief, if you don't like them, don't wear them! My feet, knees, and expensive shoes thank the Croc inventor!!!
(Wait 'til these kids grow up and have heel spurs and shin splints; we'll have the last laugh!)

Jax...thats odd...Crocs seem to be real popular with the youth in our area. I see alot of teens wearing Crocs which are rather trendy right now. As for ugly, well they are but comfortable.
At our age its all about comfort! ;-)
Teens and college kids where them that I've seen too...not that I would care LOL I have to admit since I haven't bought my winter pair yet, sexy I'm not, in a pair of pink crocs with white socks peekin through!
There is a faction of young adults (mostly male) who are mounting a revolt and are intent on wiping out the Croc. Hence the web site "I Hate Crocs". They are the kids who are more into Indy music, dress like morticians, and take themselves WAY too seriously!!! I recently found this quote: "Fortunate are those who have learned to laugh at themselves, for they will never cease to be amused."
Jax that is pretty funny. Sounds like they have too much time on their hands.
Well, I love mine, but I do have one warning. Keep them out of the sun. They SHRINK! My dog took one outside one day and it was hours before I went and retrieved it and it was a full size smaller than the other one. I took them back to the store I got them from and they gave me a new pair and I contacted the company and they sent me an email saying yes they do shrink in the sun! Otherwise I LOVE them, especially for gardening in. If they get dirty or dog doo on them I just rinse them off with the hose. I have had heel spurs and problems with my arches and they feel sooooo good.
Mobi, good to know!!!
I LOVE shoes that you can pop in the washing machine, too-- I'm getting to be a real germ-o-phobe, thanks to the media. Heyyy... weren't we all suposed to be dead from bird flu by now? You know, the TV reporters pounce on every new disease that comes down the pike with such fervor that we will ignore them if there is a REAL danger. They neglect to mention that the same garden-variety flu kills many people every year.
I'm glad to know they shrink...because mine are always too big & the next size down is to small..I need a size 7 1/2...
l just take a shower in them when they get dirty, I'll spray them with a cleaner then in the shower we go...by the way I got a email a few days ago that said free shipping ends tomorrow. code is crocsspring07
Hi araness which site has the free shipping???
I'd check www.zappos.com -- they have the fastest shipping and it's usually free. I get all my shoes from them.
Look! How CUTE!!! (I'm not an employee/owner/shareholder of Zappo's, just a shoe nut!) http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/19304450/c/1334.html
Sorry the Croc's website has free shipping also with that code...

Thanks I was hoping you would see my post..if you order the boots I think they run big..I have them but in the summer will put them out in the sun,to shrink!!hopefully..
Be careful so they don't shrink too much, I'd test them often if you do that!
Thanks for the info on the boots, I am going to order my DMIL a pair. We bought her a pair of the normal slip on's while she was here from Chile over the holidays. She was so sure she would only wear them as house slippers. *LOL* well DH got an email the other day and she wore them to a flower show she went to in Santiago and ran into a guy who had on a pair and they both laughed at being the only people in Chile with Crocs.
Thats the same thing that happened with a friend of mine he thought they were ugly..One night I was out walking with them on...met up with him & he kept looking at my feet..I asked him what he was looking at..lol..he said your feet...He does just wear his as house slippers tho!!!:o)))
While on the subject of slippers, I am mortified to see people who use flat fabric shoes around the house! You do A LOT of movement around the house, and everyone should wear supportive shoes or good sneakers. I wear dansko or Naot clogs, b/c I have high arches. Plain flat slippers, like all flat shoes, cause my knees to swell and back to ache (more than it normally does!) I am a big fan of a shoe for each purpose-- sturdy, supportive shoes for house and garden, dressy and impractical for when I want to look cute! Crocs fit the bill for house and garden. I haven't worn them out... yet! (So many people with back pain don't look at their shoes first--which is certainly the easiest thing to remedy.)
Don't your feet sweat terribly in the plastic? That has been my big fear of getting any, my feet sweat, and I'd be walking around slipping because the shoes were wet inside?
The shoes aren't form fitting and look more like clogs. The ones I have have holes as well.
nope, my feet don't sweat at all in them.
Melissa they aren't plastic shoes, they're made from a special kind of foam and originally were made for boating, so yeah I'd say they're fine to get wet ;)
They have a new summer style...I love mine their alot cuter too...but if you have sore feet who cares what they look like!!!I like comfort and thats what they are..
what is the new summer style?
Their a open toe and heel with a band across with the air holes...They come in all the colors too..I got mine at Ray Hunters Nursery in Southgate Mi. on Eureka..They are $29.95...I think Dicks Sporting goods carry them too...My feet never sweat in any of them either...I have their flip flops also..
I have about 5 or 6 pair of crocs... the Beach, the ones that look like Boat Shoes, two of the new Mary Jane style. I just love them. I agree that the knock-offs aren't as comfortable as the real deal, but I did find another company that makes something similar, but with a flower pattern to the holes. One of the local nurseries here carries them so I gave them a try. I just love mine, and found they are just as comfy as Crocs. They come in a cool raindrop or cloud pattern as well!

I tried several different imitation Croc style shoes and none of them would even go onto my foot because of the width of my foot. The Crocs fit fine there. I bought a pair of Crocs last month at the Air Force Base exchange and really didn't think I could wear them at all due to the circulation nubs inside but many days I can wear them fine, other days I have to either not wear them or wear a heavy sock to erase the pain of the circulation nubs because I have periferal neuropathy and when it is flared up there is no way I can take the pain of anything rubbing my feet. I wish they would make available some of these great shoes without the circulation nubs inside for those of us who are very sensitive to them.
My DH NEVER wears anything but his work boots and bedroom slippers but one day he borrowed my Crocs to run to the shop for something and when he got back in he was ready to drive the 188 miles to the base to buy himself a pair. lol He got his pair last week and when he gets home from work now he immediately takes off his boots and puts his Crocs on. We wear the same size and both have the navy colored ones with no holes in them because we live on a farm and we would constantly have manure in our feet if we had the holes. They sure are handy as far as cleaning them up from the barnyard.
I have to say that we both sweat quite a lot in these shoes but the comfort is worth the sweat and there really has been no slipping of our feet inside the shoes. Be careful with them though if you are walking on sharp surfaces such as sticks or sharp gravel because that stuff can hurt or even pierce the sole of the shoe. I have been stabbed several times by various things.
