This is a star gazer that is about four years old.

Do they get more blooms every year? This is the first year I have seen so many blooms. I can't imagine where they will find room to open.

Ahem,,,,, a beautiful lily but I think maybe it could be called perhaps Avignon???

Go look at your stem. If it is flattened abit, it may be what we call fasciated. Should be normal next year. Due to crazy weather there have been many fasciated lilies all over the globe this year. A few weeks ago we had a thread called Fasciated lilies. Go have a look at that thread.

Great Lily! Make sure you get a picture when its completely opened!!!! This year it appears fasciated...next year it will probably be back to the normal number of blooms.

Do you suppose this is what happened to my gaillardia this year? It is blooming from the tops of other flowers that have not gone to seed yet, but have lost their petals.

Hmm.... I don't know what you'd call that -- not proliferation.... shoot-through?

Sorry if I misidentified the lily as a Stargazer. I don't really have other lilies to compare them to. LOL
The stargazer is what was on the box at Lowe's when I bought them a few years ago. I remembered that because I thought maybe it was because they faced upwards.LOL I really don't know anything else about lilies except that they are pretty and they multiply.
This fall I am going to try to use the slivers to reproduce some babies.

Dont worry. We all misname or dont know names of lilies/iris/hostas.

Your lily will probably be quite normal next year/inanda

It does look weird, doesn't it.
Who knows what is under this soil. LOL
I did spray some Messenger one them when they were growing earlier this spring.

I have that one and it is an Asiatic lily called Gran Paradiso. A mature bulb has grown to about 8 feet with a ton of blooms. It is one of my favorites since the bloom time lasts so long on it. It takes about a month for all of the flowers to finish blooming.

Thanks Mina,
I looked at some images on google and it looks just like it.
