First Lily bloom!

Pasco, WA(Zone 6b)

Finally! I just started with lilies this fall and finally got a bloom. It doesn't look like anything I ordered, so not sure what it is. But it sure is bright and pretty in the garden.

And how do you all get those awesome close-ups of your blooms?

Congrats on your first bloom!
Do you have a list of the lilies that you did order? I've received wrong bulbs in the past ~ a reputable seller will replace it if it was sent by mistake.

Can you adjust the resolution on your camera? How many magapixels? For example, my Nikon Coolpix 5200 can go as high as 5.1 mp, but I find the middle setting (3) is sufficient.

Lovely bright one! I usually crop my photos so they look like they were taken closer than they really were.

What about the Macro setting? Sometimes that can be helpful,

(although my camera guy told me that (since I am such a klutz) I should stick with automatic and then rely on Picasa or one of the photo editing programs to clean up the pictures.) LOL

Moby,
I do have the list of lilies I ordered. It doesn't look similar to any of them. But I forgot I planted a mixed bag the year before from Walmart. Maybe it's from that small bag of bulbs. But it didn't come up last year. Maybe it was a 'sleeper' and just came alive this year??? Oh well, it's bright and pretty, just not what I would have ordered. ;o) And my camera should work pretty good. It's a Canon Powershot G1 with 3.3 mega pixels. Must just be the operator! LOL It has a ton of manual settings which I rarely use because I'm not sure what the heck I'm doing when I use them. Thanks for the info.

lincolnitess,
Thanks! Maybe I'll try the cropping and see how that goes. Thanks for the tip.

tabasco,
LOL I know what you mean about the 'klutz' thing. hehe I do have a macro setting, I just thing the 'user' needs to learn how to take photos. ;o)

I know what you mean ~ I don't use 1/10 of the options on mine.

When I first got it, I got the book and adjusted one or two settings at a time. It's too much to comprehend in one sitting!

Sherry, did you order any of your lilies from Michican Bulb? Yours looks a lot like one I purchased last year from them (I bought from them before I knew about DG or I wouldn't have). They call it "Corina", and it was 'supposed' to be scarlet but it isnt. I keep it because it is such a prolific bloomer even though it wasn't what I wanted. I also keep it as a reminder to check DG before ordering and not to order from companies with bad ratings. ;o)
