I. acuminata Question

Is Ipomoea acuminata more of a ground cover, or will it climb?? I have it twist tied to some bamboo poles, but it seems like it more wants to trail than climb. I have it in a 18" diameter pot, if it likes to trail, I will hang it on the porch railing and let it hang over the side. I just assumed, Morning Glory = climbing.

my blue dawn runs all over the place on the ground and last year and this i have it on a trellis and it runs up it too. last year i had a stragler who got out the pot and it was running up my hickery nut tree.

mine mainly like to run on the ground since thats how they reproduce by runners but can be trained to run up something and once the are latched on to it away they go.

Thanks, it just didn't seem like it was grabbing on, like the other MG's I've had. Do they reproduce by runners underground, or is it the runners from the plant that are on the ground rooting where they are laying on the soil?

momcat - You asked

" is it the runners from the plant that are on the ground rooting where they are laying on the soil? ":

Yes,Ipomoea indica can also produce seeds if the plant you have is not a clone...
