New buds in my imperialis...will they fall off like they use to?? This time they have made it a little bit longer than the usually do before falling off. So, please, cross your fingers.... =)
Will my imperialis make it this time??
Oh, Lotta they are adorable. I will keep my fingers crossed for your imperialis. Bloom, baby Bloom!!!
Ann
I'm praying for you Lotta! I hate bud blast myself!
Lotta,
Looking forward to your blooms. Sending positive vibes, prayers and even crossing fingers and toes. LOL
Patti
You can do it.... Lotto when you have time can you show me a picture of your whole plant? And if any of you have a photo of your whole plant I would love to see how your growing them, hanging, pinning them back ????
Thanks Tami
Lotta, they look good and healthy. Looking forward to seeing the pictures.
Deb
Thank you all !!!
Tami, I will take a photo of the whole plant - I don't have one right now. It's not a beautiful sight, though... It's growing rather "wild"... LOL
Lotta - here's hoping it continues! Keeping my fingers crossed for you!
Wow, what a beautiful plant, and flower. Does this Hoya set peduncles easily and early? I see you have another peduncle on yours. Thanks for posting your plant Christina, I have to figure something out for mine. Again it is very pretty..
Thanks Tami. I think my plant was about a year old when I saw the peduncle, but it waited another 6 months before it bloomed. It has now 3 (one hidden behind the leaves with small buds on it) peduncles and it's now a size I can live with. Not too big and not too small! I have cut off about 2 feet of a new vine that couldn't be forced to bend down - it grew straight out from the highest point. I'll "control" the plant as long as I can, but from what others say it's uncontrollable!
Let us know what you figure out and show us!
Christina
Christina, it looks nice and controlled. It looked like in a couple of spots that you had trimmed her up, which doesn't sound like a bad idea if you have some peduncles. I can't believe how fast this one grows. I wish my husband still had hes bender I would have him bend me a nice hoop out of steel or iron. I'm gonna get this figured out......
Here's a (bad) picture of my plant. I'm almost ashamed of showing it - it grows wildly and I do NOT have any control at all....=) When it has bloomed (not "if", but "when" *lol*) I probably will have to cut it down and try to bend it and make a nice and neat Hoya of it... some challenge =) Anyhow, it seems to like growing that way since it has 11 peduncles.
Lotta, that is one wild plant! Looks like you'll get to see the flowers after all, but I'd say you still have about a month left... Perhaps at Midsummer!
Christina
Christina, yes it's too wild... I must do something about it, but not right now =)). I totally lost control of it early, because I didn't undestood how fast growing this one is...
How did you manage to bend yours?
I think that plant is destined to become a floor specimen with a larger trellis. I can't bend mine's stems either, but they are no where near that large. I have mine on a 2 foot hight trellis right now, but if it goes higher & gets wild like yours, I think I would go to something like I did with the "Getty plant". Ha
I don't have very good luck with Imperialis. Mine grows slow (I have had it for 2 years & it is only about 2 ft. high. Also every other time I water, it gets yellow leaves on the bottom. I think I need to repot it into a lighter mix or something.
Marcy
Marcy, I have the same problem with mine. It seems like it always needs cut back or something. Not sure what the problem is. Good luck Lotta, she looks promising!
Heather
Lotta thanks for posting a photo, yes this one is gonna be hard to tame. And 11 peduncles wow.. That would be very pretty to see in bloom.
The buds are still there...must be due to all your good wishes and crossed fingers =)
And YES, it's gonna be a haaard one to tame.... =)))
One of my H. imperialis looks terrible. This plant doesn't grow well for me either.
Lotta, ROTFL at your photo shame of having an OUT OF CONTROL wildly growing H. imperialis! Mine are twigs! Hope she blooms for you!
Lotta, bud report please...?
Christina
Lotta that's so exciting :-).
Blessings,
Awanda
Awanda, I'm almost beginning to hope that I will see flowers this time, but only almost =)
I go and look at them about ten times a day =)
Lookin' GOOD, Lotta! Keep us posted.
Betsy
Keep us posted, Lotta - I've got my fingers crossed for you!!
Just checking in, looks promising, my fingers are crossed....
Looking good! Bet they make it this time!
Hej Lotta, looks like they WILL make it this time. They still have a few weeks to go.
Christina
A kind of sad, but beautiful picture.
Yes, a bit sad but I'm used to it now. And so will you!
Christina
Wow guys that is LOVELY :) Ok great another one I need to own LOL
I wonder if bob has that one :)
Oh he does..I am in trouble :)
I'd say one more week. I think I guessed around Midsummer in the beginning, but now I'm thinking it will happen a little sooner...
