Can anyone instruct me on how to save Bower vine seeds? My vine is loaded with seed pods and I have never had this occur so I don't have a clue what to do?
Saving Bower Vine Seeds
Let them dry and turn brown. they will split open. The seed are papery little things. Keep a close eye on them or they could disperse into the wind. Maybe place a little nylon hose material over them as they ripen. Keep it in place with a twist tie.
Thank you so much. I had one brown up and I opened it but don't think it was quite ready. Glad to hear they are papery little things--I was expecting a bigger seed and when I saw what they looked like, I was a little unsure. They sure do make a lot of pods or at least this plant did.
I appreciate your help.
Patty
Your welcome.
Just saw this thread. I have the seeds. Do I just put the papery seeds in the ground and water? I live in Houston

WOW! This is an old thread. I usually push them into the soil and don't cover with soil. If planting first into a pot, sit the pot with the seeds planted in it onto a large gallon baggie and close to keep the moisture in. Poke some holes in the bottom to let it drain if moisture accumulates. I place pots like these in a shady protected area. In my case I put them under my boxwoods as close as possible so they don't get direct sunlight. It may take some time for them to germinate. Someone else may see this and add some other ideas to it.
Or try the propagation forum for some info also.
