Clerodendrum Bungei

Camilla, GA(Zone 8a)

This is a pest here for me, but a very pretty one. I leave an open area where it can just spread.

Spread like crazy for me, even though it is not supposed to be hardy. Year 3 I pruned it with Roundup.

Is it a pest there, really? People here in the Pacific NW try to grow Clerodendrum bungeii with some wimpy success.

Super pest...lol

But like I said, I have an area where I just let it go..It hides my chicken and goat pens that are not so pretty.

Even in north Ga.,it spreads every where digging is easy, the old packed red clay hampers the spread, but still a pest.Intereting thing I have noticed is,they are a independant seperate root, when I dig them out, even though they are "root suckers"thinking about it confuses me,I have lifted them out without a broken root anywhere.Does it make sence?

I found the same thing mqiq77. It's like they are seedlings, sorta. My neighbours plants are spreading vigorously so in the PNW it can be a bit of a spreader.

I got some of this from a friends neighbor. Two colors . thought they were beautiful and smelled so good and you are right they spread all over the place. I am pulling them up where I dont want them when they are small. I didnt know what they were called either but now I do thanks to this site. They sure are pretty. Anyone want some haha I will send you some.....Fran
