Have an extra piece of cake. Pam, hope your Birthday is real special and a great year ahead for you.
Brenda
Happy Birthday Lilypon
Best wishes Pam!!!! Are you out planting a garden ????
Glenda
Thank you so very much Brenda!!!!! Ü
I'm at work for the day but that's okay, we (DH, DF and I) already hit the fantastic Canadian Tire potted plant sale at 6:00 a.m.) and DH plans on doing a LOT of yard work *at home* today. Ü So this will be a B'day with a lot less *physical* work for me. :)
No need to say what my gifts from family were. ;)

Thanks Glenda. :)
This would be one of the gardens we will be kept busy with: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/604361/
My water lilies will be planted out this week and I'll also be planting up my pots.
Pam, I am planting up my pots too. This has been a cool spring here, and it is still cool in the evenings. I am attacking the pond this weekend. IF you remember, it is a concrete pond, and every year we have leaks we have to fix. There is only about a foot of water left in it, but that is about as far as it ever goes down. We will be trying to fix cracks again and get things going this weekend. I DO need to get a fake heron or something, since we lost quite a few of my 6 year old goldfish last year. We also have a kingfisher around who likes to dive into the pond on occasion. The hazards of living by the ocean!!!!
Enjoy your day.
Oh, forgot to tell you hubby bought me a faux greenhouse a few weeks ago. It's 10 by 10, is sort of a frosted viny., not see through, and has a green vinyl you can put on the top also. He is out setting it up as we speak. It will be a great place to do my hypertufa and cement work, and keep the brugs in the winter. He says only a light bulb will keep it warm inthe winter, so I am very excited!!!!
Glenda
It sounds fantastic Glenda (your greenhouse that is ;). Sorry to hear about the crack in your cement pond (and yep I do remember the pics you showed me of it :).
Re: your water lilies and the outside temps it sure has been a strange spring. Today we are cool again but we certainly have been frying up to now. Rest of the week here is supposed to get pretty warm again......but there is a chance of frost forecasted for a week from now.
I'm planting up my pots no matter what........family is gunna hate me tho if we have to drag them in later this week. ;)
Ü Oooooooooh it's GORGEOUS!!!! Ü Thank You Milan!!!!! Ü
I just hit enlarge and your pic took my breath away........Milan which one is it???? :)
Hoya lacunosa shortly after the buds opened up.
Going to be talking very, very sweetly to mine then!!! ;) It just *has* to bloom........yours is soooo pretty and what an awesome pic! Ü
Thank you Linda....... I can *almost* smell it. Ü It looks like it might be Stepping Out ??? I'm going to have to check my backyard this evening and see if any of my irises are in bud.
A wonderful weekend to have a birthday on.........the park surrounding the library has a large # of Scots in their full regalia & playing their pipes (music festivals galore going on now).
echoes I didn't mention it above but I love your lily / butterfly bush combo! My BB didn't make it through this past incredibly weird winter but I was able to find a young start of it for $3.99 so am pleased with that.
Happy birthday Pam, with hopefully 2 planting days. Frost talk around here tonight. Quite amazing. We shall see.
G
happy birthday lilypon.hope its a good one for you.
Happy Birthday Pam!
Thank you all so much (Ginny, digging-dirt, Todd and Carol :). Todd I fondly remember, as a young child, discovering Lily-of-Valley blooming on my birthday and thinking how lucky I was to have it bloom on this day (I would have never left your yard ;).
We had our lunch today in Crescent Park (where the library is situated) and enjoyed........
the intoxicating scent of 100's of golden oldies
so my day started with a very early morning visit to the plant sale, wonderful sights and sounds at lunch, a lovely dinner out and the gift of having b'day wishes from the wonderful members of Dave's. Ü
How wonderful to see you Linda! Ü ..... p.s. delphiniums are another fav of mine. :) BTW I haven't forgotten your cutting.....I have most of next week off work so will be doing a mail out. :)
Thank you all for the gift of sharing your beauties in bloom as well!!!!!!! Ü
Happy Birthday Lilypon!!!!! ;))
Thanks kinnika, Donna and cdplayer! Ü What a lovely orchid and everyone's pics are such an incredible treat for this low zone peep eyes.....colour is just starting to appear here.
Hope you all enjoy this lovely Victoria Day long weekend and get lots of planting done! :)

Happy Birthday 2 days ago Pam. I can't imagine you have any time to have a birthday after your trip to Calgary. You must be building beds and planting day and night. Let see some of the new ones in the ground.
Happy Happy Happy to you.
cheers April
Thanks Steven and April! :)
Steve I'll have to work on that.........gots lots and lots of weedy stuff I'll be attacking in my yard this week and I'm sure not going to be showing them off. ;0
Happy birthday a bit late. sorry I missed it, but then, why not keep up celebrating for a week?
Hope you had a great day.
Ann
I really did thanks Ann! :) Since gardening is my fav activity I guess you could say I will be celebrating all this week (since I will be planting my gifts) & I will have the time to visit one or two more greenhouses :). Last night we certainly felt the labors of the day..... both muscle wise and a slight burning of the skin (our winter white skin is colouring up now ;). A lady kitty corner to our plot plants in her bathing suit......she's already brown (I'm pretty sure she cheats tho and visits the tanning salon first ;).
Already we are eyeing the first of the rows we planted hoping to see the signs of germination.....it's always exciting and never ceases to thrill. Ü
Happy birthday to you, belatedly, Pam! Hope your garden does wonderfully for you! Still cold, windy, and rainy here, so gardens are on hold . (Ugh! Housebound in spring!) Blessings! BAM
Thanks Bam. :) (& I will gladly trade (a day or two with you ;)
Hotter than hades here today......we worked in the garden until 3:00 p.m. and then the heat chased us away. I'm in the province with the big red spot.
Taking the reading off our thermometer (more up to date then the weather sites}
89°F / 31.6°C and it's going to get hotter yet before nightfall. Hello Florida!!! (except our humidity is only at 30 %)
We are now 3 degrees short of a 140 degree climb since our coldest day in the winter.

Happy Birthday, Pam............from the so-called rainy-sunny West Coast..........buy oodles of plants!!!! Elaine
LOLOLOL thanks Elaine (I have ;) but am on restricted buying now.........DH saw all that is in the porch and I think I've prolly pushed my luck for this year (will sneak one or two more in tho I'm sure;).
Well Sofer here's another one of our projects......the old maple has rotted through and through and we are positive some of it's limbs will be coming through the window behind our puter.
It's getting closer to coming down now......DH didn't tell me he was taking the limb down by the window yesterday. I must have jumped back 4 feet when I saw something falling out of the corner of my eye. ;)
