Great link from from the avsc! Just think all we have now in violets came about in only 80 years total. Tommy Lou variegation only since the 1960's.

I know it's really something ! And it the begining all there were blues/violets and dark foliage !! until a pink was born !

Best of my Knowledge again it was Lyon's with the first registered Fantasy flowers . I think they were introduced in the late 50's early 60's. Though they spoke of dots and streaks in different colours or hues.
In FC there are getting clost to 13 hundred Fantasy African violets with Fantasy and getting clost to 700 of these registered.
With all the Species and First ten African violets all tones of blue/violet when the first Pinks came out people went crazy !
