Good Morning all,
Have some coffee and some banana pudding. Low sugar because I used vanilla yogurt. It still tastes pretty good.
We came from over here: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/603217/
Coffee and.......May 17, Wednesday
I'm up Molly!! Took two allergy pills and slept like the living dead. My body was royally complaining, so it felt good to snooze all night.
Sun is out this morning, but cooler weather and storms coming in tonight. I need to bust butt today and get things in. The aphids are having a hayday in the greenhouse. No more ladybugs around to munch on them. I probably need to spray with something...
After DH and I got the mowing done, the lawn looked great!! Can't even tell the weeds from the lawn- it is all nice and green. We have several patches of dirt showing under trees- I think from DH plowing the grass in the winter.. they need to be reseeded, but we need to trim up the trees first. Isn't it always something!!
My favorite greenhoue has a sale on their flats for 5.99 - it is 40 miles away =one way, so probably not worth driving all that way, plus I would probably come home with more perennials and I am maxed out with them.
Sounds like everyone is busy...it's spring...that's why!
Hey, I think I'm FIRST - except for Molly, that is.
Bonnie, thanks for explaining the strawberry situation. Seems rather complicated to me.
Glad to here DMIL is home from hospital and hope she's able to stay home longer this time.
Molly, banana pudding ought to make a good breakfast. Thanks.
Hope you all have a good day.
Ann
Oh well, I WAS first when I started typing. Hi Sarv.
You can be first Vi- I'll share with ya
Wow, where is everybody? The S. Fla Galloping Gardeners beat us to the first post an hour ago.
I was going to get up early and finishing putting those plants in this morning. After that I need to go to the zoning department pay their fee, then to building supply in Williston to order materials for delivery and then to High Springs to help Norma move.
But it's "47" degrees out there!!!. Certainly much better than 85, but a little chilly for shorts and tank and wet hands.
I had a little trouble staying asleep this morning. My mind is too busy on building posts and beams. I think I have a hankering to get out and hammer some nails!!!
Yesterday I planted in the front yard and started working my way around to the pond, then the native plants been, and never got past the fence into the back yard. All those impatiens need to be back in the shade circle. The timing on this was perfect.
Darius' hostas and astilbes have been doing very well, but they really need to go north to her new home, so the annuals in the shade will take their place, and my hostas need to be moved too. With summer coming, they are no longer in the shade where they are now.
Good thing I picked the back yard for shade plants AND included that area within the fencing. We have too many deer and rabbits in the area now. They are not really into getting inside the fence. If they did try to get the hostas over there, they would step in doggy poo, I know I did and I live here. The dogs have decided to use the circle for their special spot.
Well, I spose I could put long pants and a sweat shirt on and git out there to put that cartfull of plants in. We are burning daylight here!
Molly
:^))))
Wait a minute now, if I hadn't been so long winded I was gonna be first after me.
Molly
:^)))
Molly-Wow it's 48 here! Imagine all the money I've saved not going to Florida for that!!
Ann-WOOHOO Good for you on the wieght loss!
I'm still reading yesterday - wow it's long, figures that would be the day I missed! I went up to the farm to plant trees in the rain, and breaks from rain, since it's perfect planting weather for trees.
BBL
m5-LOL at the Sammi story, and the enemy in the jar!! I can just picture it!! Poor Sammi, but I guess he got his exercise for the day!!
Maria-Glad you're safely out of the way of the water. I have no sympathy for the (many) idiots who have broken the environmental laws and built right at waters' edge, and most insurance wont' cover flooding, so too bad. THe aging dams are a problem. There was one near here that burst last year, although it was fairly newly rebuilt, drained an entire lake, washed out the main roads for a year, and is just a mess. At least no one was hurt.
Your pond is gorgeous, BUT reading how DH repaired the dam saw the GF and thought Girlfriend?? LOL it took a minute for Grandfather to register!! I was thinking girlfriend didn't sound quite right, especially as close as you were!!
darius-glad you made the graduation, the boyfriend sounds like a keeper, things sound like they're going so well!! HOORAY on the loan, half of AMerica is holding its breath for you, and I for one was turning blue!!
defoecat-I hope you can stick the neighbor with the tow bill since they called the towtruck!! I'll be right over for strawberry shortcake if there's any left
Molly-GREAT plant haul, yay on the orchid house progress. Amazing progress you're making!!
Mary-I don't like the sound of those coyotes, LOL on the bumper sticker!!
Hi ELaine, sarv, woodspirit. Carat, bal, McCool, hope 43~~~~~~~
suzieq-Hi! haven't seen you in a bit (I've been in and out too) Guess you've been busy in the garden!
Good Morning all and I can not believe it but the sun blinding me this morning, gues my eyes are not used to it. It rained again last night,
Samson had a wonderful time catching balls, he and the thrower, me, have not been able to do it in quite a while..
Hope all of you have sunshine too
Good Morning All!
I'm new to parking lot so I suspect I wasn't missed, lol!
Molly..'nana puddin....I'll take some! It's one of the few thing I can manage to eat right now. My disaster unexpected oral surgery last thursday is still an ongoing situation. On 2 different antibiotics (did someone say stomach problems/nausea) and pain meds. I feel like the living dead, ugh. They have decided to send me to an ENT physician, thinking maybe the oral surgery opened up a can of worms that existed before and just needed some stirring up to rear it's ugly head. Enough complaining on my end!
I have read all the posts but can't remember to comment on anything, lol. CRS or pain meds....could be either.
Update on brugs, etc that I accidently sprayed with weed killer. One by one they are hitting the dust, ugh. I was trying to stay positive. DH has been at my beck and call, I think he's trying to make nicey-nice with me. I think I will milk this one for all it's worth, lol.
Time to hit the couch again so the kitties have a spot to snuggle into. They have to make sure that I have no part of my body that remains uncovered by a cat. Got to love 'em.
carole in atlanta
Morning my dear friends! Yes, the sun is shining here too and I asked DH to string up the clothes line for me so I can hang sheets outside. It was supposed to rain again last night but it bypassed us and we are dry and it looks like a fine day coming up. Good day to go after some more crab grass.
Isn't it wonderful to get a good night's sleep Sarv? Me too, guess the fresh air helps. Sure kicks up my allergies though, sneeze sneeze sneeze. Scares Sammi silly. LOL
My iris have shot up huge flower stalks just in the last week, they should be opening soon. I have some Shasta Daisies to put in, they were on sale for teeny prices, but they are only in 4" pots so I'm leery of putting them in the ground yet. Maybe try a larger pot and put them in the ground later, when the roots get stronger.
Molly are you and Jeremy doing the building without Darius' helping hands this time? Sure was good news that they got their financing in place. I'm sure she misses having all her own things in one location.
(That's silly, I'm talking like she's not keeping up with us!!)
Good to see Suzie back, and Bal. Things get a little busy outside for all of us right now, so I'm not surprised when we don't hear from someone for a bit.
Poor Sammi, he was in desperate need of cuddling this morning, must have been his traumatic experience yesterday. First he planted himself on DH and then got handed off to me, now he's napping and the girls are wandering around from window to window watching the birds and making those weird little chirping noises.
Glad your neighbor offered to pay the towing Bonnie. What were they thinking, not checking whose car it was before having it towed away.? I'd take them up on the payment offer, for sure.
Just wanted to check in before I get busy. Want to see if any of the garden shops have wave petunias so I can get them in early. I have no room for starting them inside, so I have to pay the premium and buy them in flats. They are so lush though , it doesn't take all that many to fill out a large area. Last year, I had some volunteers that self seeded, which was a real shock to me. Haven't seen any of those coming up this year, but it's early and still cool.
Maria, glad you've finally got sunshine! Hope the waters all recede. They said that MA hasn't had rain like that since 1937 or so.
Later...~~~~ to everyone..
Sheila
Edited for really bad typing...

Mornin everyone! Have been lurking, not posting tho.
Maria, glad to hear you didn't get flooded. We have flooded numerous times since we moved here in 2001. We were told the basement got slightly damp. I have had 4-5 feet of slightly damp in my basement! I've been checking the basement every day, we have a bit of water on the floor, but not enough to turn the sump pump on yet. Supposed to rain here til at least Friday. My yard looks like a jungle. DH said he is gonna put those orange antenna flags on the kids to go outside LOL
Sammi sure got a scare, huh? Oscar would come running when I shook the treat can. I still miss him :( We had to take him to the shelter. After we had Zoey he would not use the litter box anymore, we tried new litter a new location a new box... he would only go on my dining room floor (yuck).
We might be getting a new animal, but not sure yet. Not a conventional pet... but that is all I'll say for now :)
Molly, sounds like you're really making progress!
I know I've missed most of you, but ~~~~ to those I didn't speak to. CRS, I guess :)
Huggers
Janis
Thanks all,
Yep Sheila, just me and Jeremy this time. Darius did the building code research for us and we are going out to buy our own tools, the bare minimum because I am cheap. She's much too busy now making plans for the new place.
I do expect her back one of these weekends for a visit before she permanently leaves the state.
I got my long pants and sweat shirt on. I need to get some work done outside before we got to Norma's.
TTYL,
Molly
does that silly chat ever work anymore???? Got another 1000 sq ft of flooring to put down. Think we are going to wait about a week. I have by lateral knee replacement and the frirst 1000 sq ft have taken a toll.
Good morning all, I have read all, but am off to the grocery, etc. Will comment on everything when I get back.
~~~~~frantically to everybody.
Good morning. It's gonna be another hot day. I have some watering to do, then have to be in town at 9am, so have to run now. Oh, and hubby's nasty bug got me overnight, I woke up with a very sore throat, that's just what I needed. Wrong! See you later.
Hi y'all!
I'm still around ... just been waay too busy again this morning. The DH called around 10 and said he was coming home for lunch. That was great, but I had just finished my coffee it seemed. :)
Got a beautiful tarragon in a plant trade and had to get it planted. Sure hope I can keep it living down here in the heat. the last one I had croaked. :-( I might try keeping it in the house. Any words of wisdom from southern growers?
Anyway, got the sheets washed bathrooms cleaned and am headed back in the kitchen. On his way out he asked what was for supper. I said I didn't have a clue as I hadn't cleaned up the lunch dishes yet. :)
Will come back later to comment on everyone's post. Have a great afternoon!
~Elaine~
Good morning every one and afternoon now.. have great day all..
Twyla..
Posting from my sister's office, and my first experience with Wi-Fi. Couldn't get it to work on our trip last week so I went to the Apple Store this morning. Simple operator error, LOL. I just love this new laptop although it's a bear to lug around. The carrying case I bought weighs as much as the laptop, plus all the 'office' junk I have in the side pockets.
I frorgot to bring the folder for the new house unfortunately. We need to get a Home Inspecdtor, Radon Test, and pick an attorney. Guess waiting another day won't hurt anything but my aqnxiety!
Last night the kid said she may move to Texas with the boyfriend instead of them coming with us. Much as I'de like to see a strong young male on the farm, I'll feel less tension if they don't come with us. Jessica just has a one way ticket to Dallas next week, apparently.
Yes, I will get up to Molly's before I leave the state. Still have a few things there anyway, and may dig some of my plants.
Morning, afternoon and goodday all...:-) It got to 101 yesterday and heading there agin today. I have read all and
congrats to the good news darius on your place and
Molly for your new orchid house,
Oz wow on the flooring, I still have to do my dinky little bathroom,
Mary don't ya love when the DH share things...LOL...
and to everyone else I missed frantic huge ~~~~~~~~'s to all. Have a great day. Back out into the heat....Hugs Lauri
Darius, I can confirm about the case for the laptop is heavier than the laptop it self. I took it to Europe last year was afraid to put it in the suitcase, it might have gotten lost so I carried around from plane to plane plus my carry-on - luggage, not only that but I had to haul it out every where for inspection. When I finally arrived in Vienna, my BIL asked, good heavens what do you have in here, rocks? lol, If I ever go again it will stay at home!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~waving to everybody, going out to plant some more before it rains again
I'm backkkkkkk - from the greenhouse.....again.....and my charge card is smokin!!!
I went with a friend of mine. We should never shop together as we both over spend - and she especially can't afford to!!
I bought flats of dahlias, vinca, ageratum, (5.99 how can you pass that up!) hanging baskets of browallia (love that stuff) 2 boston ferns, two wave petunias (4.99)! Also got a hydrangea- forever and ever and one more perennial -agastache. Oh it was glorious!!!
I did get 4 huge pots planted this morning with stuff I overwintered. They look pretty pitiful, but will fill out as soon as the warm weather stays around.
Tonight I'm going out to dinner with my teacher friends - to get the scuddle=butt on what's happening. We always have a fun time.
Darius - as much as you would like some strong arms, I think NOT having them there would be better for your health!! LOL Outta sight, outta mind... Wish them well, give them a hug and wave them off! I've heard you can drive in places and use their Wi-Fi from the parking lot. Does that really work??? I am taking my laptop camping and need to find where I can hook it up so I don't lose touch with everyone.
Mary, hope the bug flies away quick for you. Summer junk is always the worse I think!
oz no chat is the pits. I think that if it doesn't work they should schedule it again - just to make it up to us!!
Flam - of course we missed you. I have brugs and when they get going I'll be glad to send you some stalks - but it won't be until much later - they are still bare twigs here...
We have two male hummingbird fighting over the feeder. I put two up, but they won't share. It sure is comical to watch!. My oriole finally found the orange I put out for him. They sure are gorgeous birds.
Well, time to get planting!!
Sarv, the wireless here at my sister's office is password protected. The Wi-FI at the Day's Inn where we stayed one night was not. So, I guess it's trial and error.
Dave is working on a new chat.....Yippee it looks like it is a go...gotta go catch horse for the farrier, a new guy...hope he is good...Lauri
Good afternoon! Wow two days in a row. Maybe that means things are slowing down a little.
Sarv- that trip to the greenhouse sounded like fun. I always spend too much when I go shopping with friends. We are going camping over the Memorial day weekend also. We always go to Lancaster, PA with my parents and another couple. I did find out the other day though that stepdaughter is going with us. aaarrrgghh.
Molly - Can't wait to see that orchid house. Any Banana pudding left?
Darius - I thinks it would be less stressful for you if "the kid" went to TX. Hope all goes well with the loan.
~~~~~~~~to everyone that I don't have time to address right now. Have a great evening!
Finally back!
Well, lets see. Got to talk to Defoe and Maria today and *did* get a bit done around here, too. :) Still don't have a clue what we're having for supper though. Got a ham slice in the frig I guess I can pull out. The DH has to go to the funeral home as he's lost a friend ... but I think I'm going to pass.
sarv, wow what a trip!! Sounds like you really made a haul.
Carole, you're always missed ... and I'm so sorry about your plants. :-( Hope you get to feeling better *real* soon.
Woofens no fair teasing us with your news on the new animal. :) Now you can't lurk anymore! You *must* come back and tell us more! ;)
oz, hope those knees hold out so you can finish the flooring! Good to have you back in the meantime. :)
Hi Darius ... yes it would probably be nice having a strapping young man around your new place but like the others say ... it wouldn't be worth it if there was constantly tension. Besides, you can do it. :)
Well, I'll have to beg off and wave to the rest. It's time for the DH and I don't want him to catch me at the puter *again*. LOL Waving at you Ann, dmc, McCool, Mary, Hope, Molly and everyone else!
~~~Elaine
Me again.
Suzieq, indeed it is nice to see you posting regularly here again. Woofens too, don't stay away like that again, ok?
Meezer, poor Sammi in desperate need of cuddling. LOL. AmandaPanda spends several hours at a time outside now. She was out when I left for town this morning and has been sleeping in "her" chair ever since I came home about 3 hours ago.
Elaine, LOL at you not wanting to have your hubby catch you at the computer. Mine is still at work for another couple of hours. Actually I have been getting something done, just inside now taking a break because it is hot out there for a gal who still has thick blood from winter. I went out to change a sprinkler and got busy weeding, again. Don't we all wish the stuff we want to grow would grow like the weeds do?
Darius, I think there will definitely be less stress if the kid goes to Texas instead of moving with BF to the new place. Moving is enough stress, and hiring somebody for the heavy work will probably be cheaper in the long run. How far is the new place from where Shoe lives?
Sarv, I don't feel any different now than when I got up this morning, so maybe my immune system is putting up a good fight. Tomorrow will tell the story I think, I'll either be worse or better.
This morning I had to take the truck to the dealership for servicing, so then I wasted about an hour and a half at the nearby cafe, better to sit there with a cup of tea reading the paper than to sit in the dealers waiting room. After that I was on my way to a nursery and saw somebody working in a garden that I have always admired, so I stopped and said hello, and a half hour later was on my way to the nursery again. I was looking for rock cress and yucca, they didn't have either one, so I went to another nursery, they had the rock cress so I bought 5 of them plus some other things including a lemon scented geranium. Then it was on to the discount store where I got 3 artichoke plants, and finally grocery shopping and home. Didn't take time for the thrift store today. Who knows what good bargains I missed?
The basement now smells like lemon air freshener and clorox instead of dead mouse. I decided to tackle the nastiest job first, but the list is still pretty long. Writing it down and crossing off items seems to motivate me, but at the moment I am working on a cup of tea and am not going anywhere or doing anything. Well, yes, I could be folding the laundry while I cool off, but it will wait.
Sarv, don't spray, find some ladybugs, they sell them at garden centers sometimes, and I have seen them at some place like Home Depot of Lowe's.
Well, I have to get out and water things in the greenhouse, pull weeds, move the sprinkler again, and I have corn soaking so it will have to be planted today or tomorrow. Wanted to plant the beans too but haven't put the seeds to soak yet, can't soak beans so long, just a couple of hours or they could split in half. See you later, or tomorrow. ~~~ to all I missed.
Mary-hot and dry just strains my imagination!
Mary, I'd guess I will be maybe 5 hours from Shoe. 2 hard hours across the mountains with no interstate, LOL.
Dorothy, it's HOT & DRY here, too. I'll be glad to move back where it's green again.
Back from dinner out with teaching friends - we were at the restaurant for 2 1/2 hrs laughing and catching up. Makes me even more sure that retirement was the thing for me to do....seems liike the hassles have even gotten worse - if that is possible!!
Mary - I've never seen ladybugs for sale at Lowe's or HD - guess I'll have to look...I've been busy smushing any aphids I see - can't wait to get things out in the garden -maybe tomorrow (how often have I said that!!)
We have more birds at the feeders now than in the winter. I am just shocked. I have a pair of cardinals that are there 24/7. I just love their color.
DH and I just love Lipton peach ice tea and I cannot find it anywhere - grr. I've looked at three different grocery stores - guess I may have to search the net for some.
Well, time for jammies and heating pad (cold here again...)
Sarv, if you want a good laugh, put a mirror by the bird feeder. My dad used to have a large truck with truck size mirrors, and the cardinal males are the most egotistical things you ever saw! It is hilarious watching them in the mirrors. They are either preening or trying to attack the other bird.
Darius, can't you put a wheeled luggage cart under that laptop? One of those little aluminum folding things.
MaryE that's cool that you stopped and talked to another gardener. I have a hard time approaching people that way. Which is silly considering some of the people I have to approach in my job, I know, but still, I probably wouldn't have had the nerve to do that.
I rarely have more than a few minutes at a time here, but I just love peeking in and reading about what you all do for the day. Thanks for letting me share.
Hi everyone
Okay we did it ... Picked our first little baby Roma tonight and split it right down the center. :) Have you ever tried dividing a Roma equally between 2 people? I mean this one was pretty small. We probably should have left it another couple of days, but it *sure* was good! :)
I'm sitting here right now sipping on a cup of hot tea with some of my spearmint in it (in my DG mug of course ) and it's soooo good. Next time I'll throw some of my lemon balm in with it.
Mary that lemon scented geranium sure sounds pretty. Is that the same thing as lemon balm? I love anything that has a smell. :) Oh, and by the way ... I'm sorry you've been under the weather today. Maybe we should send the 2X4 to your DH for sharing the bug?
Darius, I know what you mean about the computer. When me and the DH travel he has a back pack made for a computer, cause he got tired of lugging the thing around in airports. Most times it's hard for us to navigate with all our carry on and that works great!
sarv, sounds like you had a great time tonight with your friends. I've never seen ladybugs for sell either ... but tell you the truth I didn't know you could buy them! LOL
Solitare~ I'm not sure if I've properly welcomed you or not ... but it's great to have you. We have plenty of people that can only stop by occasionlly. Just come on in anytime you get a chance. :)
Speaking of people we haven't heard from lately ... has anyone heard from Kelly? I've been wondering how she's been feeling. She was waiting on a doc report the last time she popped in. We haven't heard from Susan or Diane in a while either. Oh and Judy is MIA all the time now!
Carole, if you're around ... here's hoping you're feeling better tomorrow.
Well, it's getting late, and I still haven't gotten comfy so I'll go do that. If I don't fall asleep I might check back in. If I don't make it hugs all way round.
~Elaine~
Hi, everyone!
I just wanted to take a few minutes to say 'hello' and see how everyone is doing. I hope all is well!
Jody
Hi guys,
Hope you all don't mind that salutation! I know it's mostly "gals" around here (and I like it that way), but I've always been more of a "human, first; gender, second" kind of person.
It's great not to see constant rain here for a change! I'm getting part of tomorrow off as DH has the day off and wants to spend it at my store. I have to go in to relieve him at 5 PM as it's his day to volunteer at the town's free health clinic. I hope to get some veggie seeds planted and to sterilize some more pots, plant some herb seeds indoors, etc.
I01, I've never seen ladybugs, or any other predator insect for sale at a Home Depot or Lowe's either. You can buy them on the web at Gardens Alive (http://www.gardensalive.com/category.asp?c=13) and other such places. If you check your local listings for organic gardening supplies , you might well find some closer sources. Wow, the first garden tomato! It doesn't matter how small it was --- it had to be the most amazing taste compared with grocery store fare.
Mary, I sure hope that the bug that your DH shared with you is not the same one that we had here! It also started with a bad sore throat and refused to go away for at least 5 weeks. My mother ended up with bronchitis as a result of it. Please pamper yourself and don't let it get the best of you.
Bonnie, very glad that your MIL was released from the hospital even though the timing wasn't the greatest for you. I sure hope that's the last she has to see of that place for a good long time. Hope your own Mom is doing okay now. I'm hoping that your absence means that you were busy with the everyday chores and not that any more crises have landed on your threshold! Be good to yourself, please, whatever is happening around you. As far as the towing fee for your car goes, I'd at least accept the offer for 1/2 the charge. Under the circumstances that might be the best way to go so that nobody takes the full blame for what happened.
Oz, hope the chat problems are straightened out for you and the multitude of others here who love it. It's way too fast for me! I do things well, but never claimed to do them quickly! LOL!
Suzieq, Solitare, hope, Carole, and Janis, please just check in when you can. Don't even start to think that you're not missed in your absence!
Lauri, don't know how you cope with those high temperatures. I think that if I didn't melt outright, I'd have the energy level of a tree sloth.
~~~~~~~~~~~~ to Molly, darius, sarv, M5, V-ann, dmcd, and Maria. Hope you all have peaceful nights filled with the sweetest dreams. I'm about to nod off here at the keyboard myself. Good night, sleep tight.
Hi There,
Just popping in briefly before bed. The awards dinner was tonight and it was a good presentation. #0 nominees in 6 categories. No, I didn't win, but that's just fine. I don't really need another framed certificate for my wall and we all agreed that we all one just from being nominated. The entire nomination process was quite extensive and tedious. To have someone think enough of one's accomplishments to be willing to go through it is a very special vote of confidence. And the accomplishments of the nominees are indeed inspiring. All in all, a very nice evening.
Food cupboard wasn't very busy today; so I came home early. Got some gardening done before it was time to go.
Gotta go. more tomorrow.
Ann
Yep, it's Miss MIA in person!!
Ain't even gonna think about commenting at this time of night. Got home from grocery/errand, met the home health care nurse, at DM's and then on to unload the car and put things away. Had a good chat with 101, and then hit the yarden at full tilt. Moved daylilies from in front of the house to a new daylily bed, then planted 6 dahlia tubers, I received from Daisyruffles, put in 3 red hot pokers, and an unknown perennial from a plant trade, fixed supper, and back out to till the area where I removed the daylilies from. It is right by the front porch, and I plan to put a fragrant garden in there. It will be only a little one this year, but plan to expand it for next year, so that when I sit on the front porch, I have some sweet smelling things there.
DM and DMIL are doing so so, not bad, not great, just so so. The car saga continues, as the tow place is not accepting our calls, DH went by there today, and saw the car, but can't contact anyone to make arrangements to retrieve it.
They are predicting rain for sometime during the night, but hope that it will be little, and I am able to go to DM's and put in her annuals that I have sitting in the garage.
If there is time, I am going to rip out all the plants in my wildflower garden, and start again. There is nothing there except cornflower, anybody want some for postage? These are large plants, and some blooming now. They bloom all summer.
Well, I have made myself tireder ?? just telling you what I plan to do tomorrow. And if the day gets long enough, I plan on hauling out that power washer and tackling the deck and front porch and walkway. After which comes the application of the sealers. and then I need to get Mr B to the vet for the dreaded rabies shot, and annual things. Won't he be happy to hear that?
Well, I am blathering, so I am gonna go to bed.
Night all.
have to jump in here, cause it might save some money and a neighbor. I run an RV park and motels in what I will kindly call a seedy neighbornood. Having cars towed is part of the job, since we get an assortment. Everything from stolen, to vehicles that are left here when the local police provide the owners other places to reside. We have a contract with a tow company. The tow company must, by law, post signs, giving their name and phone, and there are regulations from the PUC as to what they can and cannot do. One of the things they cannot do, is tow a vehicle that is not on my property. If the vehicle was on a city, county or state right of way, (in colorado) there is a legal procedure that must be followed, such as the police/highway patrol etc, has to tag it for removal, usually it's 24 hours notice. Then the tow company THEY call may remove the vehicle.
Might i suggest that you leave a message for the tow company, asking by whose authority they removed your vehicle from a public right of way? Your neighbor didn't have the authority to call them, so basically, without legal authority to tow, they stole it. You might suggest they release it with no charges before you report it stolen and call your attorney.
Thanks for the welcome Elaine, this has to be one of my absolutely favorite threads. Since we took over this job, sometimes I need reminded that the rest of the world really is normal and sane. Most of the people I interact with on a daily basis are either homeless, seriously drugged on various things, hookers or dealers. I began this job thinking I could do anything for this amount of money, but I have found that I like my job, most of the time. There are a wide assortment of "characters" here, and for some of them, we are making it a little bit nicer place to live. I have Fred, the handicapped middleaged 10 year old gay man who sort of works for me, and I have Billy, the freemason who allows every hooker in town to crash in his RV, and I have Tex, the ex marine who gets so stoned that he forgets to put his pants and shoes on when he crosses six lanes of traffic to go to the showers, and... well, some days when I need to whine a bit, I'll introduce you to more of my neighbors.
So, you see, you guys are tremendously sane. I figured out that you are waving at everyone but I can't find the button on the keyboard, so take my word for it, I'm waving at you all.
Hi Elaine! Kelly and I are busy 'running' coops and buying hosta. LOL
We have a great hosta coop going on and an Eon marker coop that I am doing.
I can't believe how time consuming this can be.
I am so tired and sore from trying to get everything planted. My rear hurts, my legs hurt, my feet hurt, and I am still going to therapy for my shoulder. Should be done with that in a couple of weeks.
Now the doctor is telling me the healing or recovery time for my shoulder is over a year. I wonder if I would have had it done if I had known how it would be to recover. I guess.....
I better get back over and add in an order or two that I just got on the markers. Come on by if you want some. They are $19.48 per 100 with $8.10 for shipping for up to 450 in a box. A deal. LOL
Susan
=^..^=
I am beyond exhausted, didn't sleep at all last night and I must have ran 3 miles today with all the incidents at work. Going to try and comment on a few things though....
Sarv, I love Lipton Peach tea, if you cant find it soon let me know and I will happily send you some.
DMC, you need to come visit here before we move. I think everyone person should experience true heat at least once in there life. We were at 105 with 45% humidity and 30 mph winds for a bonus today.
Darius, I agree with how heavy the laptops and cases are. I use my laptop for 95% of my computer use. Luckily I have a small carry on with wheels that has a strap to carry the case also. I have a briefcase that has wheels and has a place for the laptop but it doesn't have room for other things I need as the other carry on does.
Molly, are you drawing and designing the orchid house on your own or is it from commercial plans? I am trying to design a greenhouse to use the windows I got from the textile warehouse. I have the basic plans figured out now I am just working on the details for things like the water lines and electrical lines for when I need to use a heater. While at a private garden in Utah a few years back I saw the ultimate in conservation. They built a pond/waterfall inside of the greenhouse for moisture, the waterfall also had wheels that spun as the water fell over them. The wheels were attached to 3 ceiling fans by way of belts and wheels. All the water from the pond was from the grey water from the house and office area but filtered through charcoal and pool filters along the way. The excess water was used to water the garden beds that surrounded the greenhouse. Wish I had a pictures to show you.
Solitare, I dont believe I have introduced myself or welcomed you to a wonderful corner of the internet world. so HI, I am Casey, and a warm welcome to you. Hope to see more of you....
Flam, had read bits and pieces of your spray mistake. Finally went back last night to get the whole story. Sorry to hear that it happened. Read on DG somewhere of someone who made a mistake of using vegitation killer instead of miracle grow on there entire veggie garden. The next morning it was all limp and beyond hope. I hope that you didn't loose everything. I have a couple of baby brugs started from the one pod I rescued on mine. If you want I would be happy to send you a couple. Let me know...... Oh by the a late welcome to coffee from me..
Elaine, I seem to be telling my DH "I just got on just before you pulled in" more then I use too. I barely seem to get to the end of my email anymore before I am ready for bed. Hopefully, I will have a life after the 8th of June when school is out again.
Darius, coming from someone who is currently living with two teenagers, RUN!!!!!!!!!! While you still have the chance. LOL Actually I know I am going to miss my older two more then I can imagine but I know it is for the best that they start living their own lifes instead of being in the complete protection of Mom and Dad. Jenn is moving out on the 14th of June to her own apartment. She should get a real dose of the real life before we move across the country and are to far away to help her out. Joey will be moving in with her come January. I am less worried about him being on his own then her. My son has always been extremely responsible and uses his common sense. DD is not always thinking when she makes decisions.
I have given up on chat. The last few times I have tried to get in it has been messed up and a couple times it has frozen my computer. I know its the chat because it is the only time that my laptop has ever had that problem.
Mary, I purchase my ladybugs from a local nursery. Home Depot and Lowes both carry them here but most of the time I have discovered more dead ones then live ones.
Woofens, so long as its not a snake I want to see the pictures. DS friend TRIED to bring his pet snake into my home a few weeks ago. Had to inform him that I know the number to animal control and wont hesitate using it. Snakes in the wild dont phase me at all, its when you place a commonly wild animal in a domestic situation that I get worried.
Meezer, had to go to the pet forum earlier to get my Sammi fix. He is getting so big now. Hope you managed to get all the weeding and gardening done you set out to do.
Well I typed more then I planned and I still have to embroider two lab coats for a friends SIL. They actually want to charge him 30.00 a peice for a three letter name and will give him demerits if he doesn't have it done. This is the type of company that causes our prescription medications to cost so much.
To all that are missing in spring action I hope all is well with you.
Everyone I missed I am truly sorry. Your posts were important and meaningful, I just am an airhead once it hits 8 o'clock and suffer from CRS.
The best of everything to everyone for tomorrow....
Casey
