My first lily this year

Divernon, IL(Zone 5b)

Grand Cru-
Ordered during the B&B December sale; when received the weather was uncooperative so I placed the lilies in a large pot overwintered in a covered stairwell that allows outside access to basement. When the weather seemed cooperative this year, the overwintered thusly pots were set out, and the result two days ago, this beauty.

How nice! Looks like you did a great job of caring for them.

Great job! Sure hope my potted lilies do as well.

What a treat! Thanks for sharing not only your story but the delightful picture.

What a beautiful bloom! How big are the pots that you put these in and how many bulbs per pot? I've just about filled up all the areas in my garden that would be good for lilies but I want more so planting in pots is something I am very interested in doing. Any tips or information you guys could give me would be deeply appreciated.

Looks like it's happy in that pot! Very nice.

The pot in question is a 14 incher. 3 Grand Cru lilies were planted deep within. I think the experts recommend using deep pots when forcing or growing lilies in pots.

Today brought with it my first lily out of the ground. Its a red Asiatic, it may be a red pixie (at least my map so indicates), but it seems to have a different habit compared to the red lilies elsewhere in the garden that I know are red pixie. Those aren't quite blooming yet.
