Planted Three Mountain Ash Trees today

North Shore of L. I., NY(Zone 6b)

Well, I have been wanting Mountain ashes for years. I know they are not supposed to do that well on Long Island but when my neighbor cut down the Red Cutleaf Maple, Kousa Dogwood and shrub dogwoods on his property right near my yard, I decided to go for it and ordered these from One Green World.
I got Ivans Belle, a Mt Ash Hawthorn hybrid and two of thier named Mt Ash trees, Rabina and Rosina Mt Ashes. All planted today. The Mt Ashes are whips, no branches yet at all. I am wondering how long its going to take until they resemble anything other than sticks stuck in the ground. They are about 5 feet tall.

Do you know what they smell like in the Spring? Right up there with Bradford Pears. Yummmy....

Elburn, IL(Zone 5a)

Never have seen one that wasn't decimated by disease around here, except for Korean Mountain Ash, which was spectacular in fruit.

Many years ago I had some American Mountain Ashs here on Long Island They lived for years, can't remember how long and died young.
