What is this called?

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

It grows on my Cedar trees during long rainy spells.
It's been raining for 8 days now, this has been visible for 3 days.
It disappears as soon as the sun comes out.
I know it has a long Latin name.
Is it related to the fungus that causes trouble with Apples?

Whatever it is its disgusting!

Nichols, IA(Zone 5a)

Yes. It's cedar apple rust. Gynmosporangium juniperi-virginianae. It doesn't spread from Juniper to Juniper, or Apple to Apple, but alternates between the two. Keep Apple trees 100 yards from the Cedar.

Thanks a lot Billy.
Too late for the Apple tree. But it it a resistant MacFree, no problem for 15 years.
My neighbor is thinking about getting an Apple, I'll have to tell him.
Thanks again.

It's still disgusting, no matter what you do to it!

Metairie, LA

It looks like something that was in a monster movie I saw. I am not sure I'd want that in my garden. It might eat you alive.
