How long from seed to blooms?

Chickamauga, GA(Zone 7a)

I have several MG seeds from lots of generouse people on this board! I havent gotten around to starting them and I want to know if it is worth my while to start them so late!
Will I still get lots of blooms? will they still grow well? Whats the best thing for me to do? start them out like I do all my other seeds in a tray, or just direct sow them where I want them?

Also what are some creative ways to plant these?? Are they prettier if I use just one kind at a time? or is a mix pretty also? I dont have anything for them to grow up on right now but I am sure I could come up with something...(any ideas would be great)

I am in your same boat. I have many seeds - but they are just that, seeds! I would like to plant them this week, don't know if they will bloom. I guess I will see. Marie

I'm in zone 6b and just put seeds in the ground last weekend. In a longer growing season like GA, you should be fine. Think I probably should have sown "indoors 6 weeks before frost" where I am, but we shall see :-) Good luck, everyone!

i have mg in little dixie cup and i started them about 2 wks ago, and they are already 3 inches tall, if you start them in doors 6 wks ahead you mihgt end up with a bush before it is time. :) but don't quote me on this, i m in a nebie too. They seem to be hardy little guys.
I would be interested to see what others have to say , :)))

I started my MG seeds way too early. It was 8 weeks before I could set them outside. They had grown all over the little mini greenhouse that I have in the sunroom. I had a tangled mess - but they were blooming. When I finally got them outside, they were pretty long and ugly. I had about one third of them survive. It sure doesn't take long for them to bloom.

If I had to do all over again, I would have started them a couple weeks ago in cups. I have to remember for next year -Morning Glories = May.

I'm sure that you could start them now and they will do just fine. Hope this helps a little bit.

I grow my vines separated by cultivar, so when I collect the seeds there will be only one type of mg and not a mix. Not many people like to trade for or buy a mix of seeds of unknown ratio of cultivars.

I used to plant my seeds in mid May when I was in zone 6 and did fine with lots of blooms.
I started my MG seeds after soaking them over night several weeks ago and they are just sitting there in the ground with one or two leaves waiting for the hot weather to hit. So mine really don't have much jump on yorus if you get them planted soon.
