we have a 40-ish old fir tree that has brown (dead?) spots on tips of some branches. I have noticed similar stuff on other large firs in the neighborhood. Do you suspect that means it is dieing or a curable disease? I just noticed this last month.
brown (dead?) spots on fir tree
Identify the genus (Pseudotsuga? Abies? something else?), hopefully the species as well, post a detailed photo if possible, and give us some background regarding the location and any recent site disturbance.

It's a douglas fir. Last summer we took of 5 of the lowest limbs that were hanging on neighbors and our roofs.
