Too Late for Bulbs?

Cumberland, RI

I'm looking to plant a couple dozen or so lilies between my daylilies. I planted 'em pretty far apart for this reason. If I order bulbs now would they bloom by end of June-ish or should I just make the rounds to Home Depot, Lowes, Nurseries, etc if I want blooms by then?

I think bulbs planted now will probably bloom later. Last year, my brecks bulbs were planted late. They bloomed later then the rest.....but it extended my blooming season....so I didnt mind. As I see it...its never too late to plant....and by next year they will be blooming at the right time. Also, you will be lucky if anyone ships the bulbs now...it is late...and many wont ship again till fall.

Unless you are American Meadows and just announced your summer bulb clearance this morning. Some bulbs are 60% off, most are 50%.

I planted some Asiatics in June last year and they bloomed for me in Sept. They were shorter than they should have been, but did Ok otherwise.

Thanks for the tips. I think I'll order some bulbs and mix in a few store bought "just about to bloom" to get some color earlier in the summer.
