Leafminers?

Niles, MI(Zone 5a)

Does anyone know what to use to stop leafminers?

What species of tree?
Merit works on some, Dy-Syston works on birch.

It's a buckeye...

I'll have to look at some labels. Never treated that tree - not many aound here.

Here's what dybbuk has concerns about.

Merit label list control for leafminers. Leafminers are hard to stop and control - preventative works better. A fall or early spring application would be ideal. I have them in my cockspur hawthorn and really just live with the cosmetic damage they do. But I have seen them stress out birch quite a bit.

Yes, I'm afraid this one's going to get stressed out too. Last year there were no leaves left by fall. I was actually surprised it came back this year. And the growth was so nice and perfect----for a minute. Shucks.

"No leaves left by fall"--that's the Aesculus family battle cry, with a few exceptions. It's not a problem, it's just what they do. They fizzle early, whether from a physiological problem, or disease.

Thanks for the info. It puts my mind at ease.
