My weeping Buckeye is showing brown spots on the leaves very early this year. It's in a very protected area with moderate sun. Any ideas? Can I stop it?
Help with my weeping Buckeye???
You've definitely got some type of leafminer insect larva tunneling around between the leaf surfaces on your buckeye. That is the classic look.
You can see this often on magnolias, boxwood, and hollies. You might do a Google on leafminers and buckeyes, or put an APB out to Guy or Lucky. I've not seen an Aesculus with this particular malady.
Thanks! I appreciate it.
I either haven't seen or haven't noticed this before(probably the latter), but here's a link to a Morton Arboretum site with info on Aesculus leafminer.

thanks very much!
I've not noticed it before either. I'd monitor it (take a photo from the same angle once each week) -- unless it gets noticeably worse, I wouldn't worry too much about it.
