I got up this morning to a horrible sight. My flower bed in the center of the yard was completely covered in frost and my blooming tulips were all hanging down on their sides.
More importantly, all my lily plants, 3-9 inches high were covered in frost, looking rather brownish. Anyone know if they'll recover for this year's blooming? I might add that after a couple hours, my tulips were standing back up and didn't seem too much worse for wear. The lily plants still don't seem very happy about their nippy night though.
frost on lily plants
Hard to say ~ I've had the just leaves be nipped and then bloom fine. If the entire top becomes soft and mushy then you'll know, but time will tell.

Most of IA had a late frost last year and the blooming season was dismal! Hardly a single bloom nice enough to take pics of. What a disappointment! The ones that did bloom were all misshapen or only partially opened. You may have to wait a year for blooms. The plants were just fine - I covered them once this spring when frost was predicted. Last year we had quite a few frosty mornings and every morning the tulips were white and frost covered and drooping. Every afternoon when I got home from work, they looked fine. Tough guys!
Moby, I am so sorry to hear about your lilies. My guess is that you will not see many lily flowers this year (sorry!)

A few of mine hit by the frost Kooger described di bloom. Black Beauty didn't, but all are up this year. Most of my orientals bloomed.
