Lillian Sparkler is blooming :)

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

Oh, I wish I had a decent camera!! Here is young Miss Lillian Sparkler with her first bloom. It's a bell bloom, very delicate and very beautiful!!! This is a baby from Allison...see, Allison, see???? My camera also doesn't capture the pink in the varigated leaves :( But it's there....

I've been waiting for days for this little beauty to open up...and it's been worth the wait...

Look st this gorgous plant WOW I am in love. I looked up May 16 th. she had her first bud. You sure can grow them Jacki !
I know you have been out of fertilizer a long time.
Does she grow in natural light or under lights ?
She is just stunning one of the most beautiful plants I have ever seen. !

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Oh PS does she still have pink in her foliage or is it hard for the camera to pick up ?

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

She has the tiniest little bit in the oldest leaves. Do you think this is a light issue? She is in natural light, though when she got buds, I put her under lights for a few days, then back on the shelf.

I forgot all about the pink, though~lol~ What do you think it is? Also, I don't want to mess with her while she is blooming but she is getting a bit of a neck. So I thought I would just add some potting mix like a top dressing. Give her a bit of nummy at the same time :)

Silver Spring, MD

She is gorgeous. What a beauty. I think you should just do what ever it is that you have been doing. They don't get any better than she already is!

She is a beauty-I just love the leaves.
The flower is very pretty,too.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

What Nanna said I 110 percent agree PLEASE ~ I think you should just do what ever it is that you have been doing. They don't get any better than she already is!

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

~LOL~ Okay, okay...I won't change a thing :) I am rather proud of her....

Thanks for all the kind words.

TFS!

Anyone have leaves down for this one?

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Leaves :)) I sent Lorry, and Jill plants, did not give Lali one she had rooted leaf. I did not send you one Nanna ? Sent Jacki her's and sent other's out forget. I still have few small plants growing.
I think Jacki put a leaf down too. It progates with ease.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

PS I bought the Mom plant beacasue a friend in Canada wanted one . I got a nice plant from Bluebirds along with Witch Docotr and more...I took a leaf or two from each and sent her the new Mom plants ~~
Golden Spirit a whole bunch of plants. Then I grew babies of these wonderous plants and gave them away too !
I must say Jacki has done an excellent job growing this plant. Her's looks nicer than the adult plant I first bought ~ And nicer than the two plant pictures in FC.
Exceptional growing Jacki !

You all make me feel so good ~lol~ Nanna, I have one leaf down and now that I have new potting mix/perlite, I can put another. Should have some babies to share by fall! Or leaves I can send you as soon as she gets a bit more of them.

Hey, Allison~ I've got babies on Angel Tears trailer today!!!!!! Hooray!!!!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

WOW Awesome. Now don't you be taking too many leaves off your plant. You keep that leaf down long enough it will give you a few babies. I have a couple babies too , Jill has one Lorry has one was can all grow some too when our's get large enough ! Lorry's should be the size of your's as I gave her's to her a long time ago.

Oh what a beauty Lillian Sparkler is! Love it!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Yes and Jacki sure has done a great job growing it !

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I have a beautiful Lilian Sparkler plantlet from Allison, and I think I have a leaf or two down already. Unfortunately, Midget Lilian arrived looking just slightly limp and has declined... When I came back after the weekend, she was down to 2 good leaves.... she just doesn't want to adapt to my home, maybe... I am trying different things with her... She still has the 2 leaves, though, so I'm quite hopeful, and she is on the front of the shelf where she can be watched & babied to make sure she is neither too wet not too dry.

I'm sorry I've been less good about posting pics lately... I have to get a shot of 'Raspberry Sizzle', with its first pink-purple bloom against that bright lime green mosaic foliage! The first blooms are coming out more solid pink than white edged with pink, but that may just be an oddity.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Oh my saddness Midget Lilian died :(( I did not send the plant that got dumped either I sent you the very biggest ( well it's a mini) plant that had been blooming and happy. How sad. I'm glad I have one plant left. I may have leaves not sure if not I'll be getting one down tomorrow. I know Jacki wants a Midget Lilian and Lilian in Lace and their not real easy to come by . I have some Lilian In Lace leaves down with babies Jackie !
I sent Jan the plant that dumped . I had re-potted it and it seem OK just lost some leaves . She had wanted some leaves of it so I figured it would be Ok for her. I have to ask her how it is doing ?

Silver Spring, MD

I didn't get Lillian Sparkler, Allison. You sent Midget Lillian and she is blooming beautifully.

The Fall trade will be fun. Looking forward to a Lillian Sparkler.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

She sure is wonderful !

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

I'm looking forward to fall trades, too. I should have lots of babies and leaves by then!

Allison~I'm excited to see some of Lillian's extended family~lol!

I've even grown her Superman and many others by leaf but gave them away.
You can not go wrong with any of her plants !

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Allison, my Midget Lilian is NOT dead! :-) Her two remaining leaves look very perky this morning. I don't know what happened, since all the other plants you sent me are thriving, and she was so nice & big. But as you've said, sometimes plants just have trouble adapting. It sounds like Nanna & I will be able to trade leaves of her Midget Lilian & my Lilian Sparkler if necessary.

I also sent you Midget Gumdrop, I think.... that's the one that keeps suckering on me... I can't get a single crown to grow large enough to flower, it just wants to sucker. I divided up another suckering pot of it last night and put them down in a covered tray, thinking that more even moisture might help them grow larger at least before they start suckering again. I asked at VG about this one and about Winnie the Pooh (also suckers like crazy for me), and she hasn't been able to grow either one without lots of suckers also. But the foliage sure is cute! I may give up and just try to shape the plant a little and allow it to grow with multiple crowns.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

My Winnie Poohs do sucker also. Maybe we should just le thembe trailers. Yes mybe Nanna can give you Midget Lillian leaf and you Lilian Sparkler. I fount two extra Lilian Sparklers watering plus mine !

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

How is your Midget Gumdrop doing?

I agree about letting Winnie the Pooh grow with multiple crowns... otherwise, they never get big enough to bloom! I've got one now in a 2 inch pot that's looking pretty good, suckers & all. :-)

I've got leaves down of my new mosaic leaf AVs from VG -- 'Raspberry Sizzle', 'Trinket Terrific', and 'Sterling Trinket'. I am so in love with this type of foliage!
