Perfection...or at least as close as you can get it.

Oh yeah, that's a great picture! I think I will give mine some extra fish/seaweed as well.
Hey have you ever been to Southwest Fertilizer- not sure if I got the name right- in Bellaire, not far from Teas area, not open Sunday- excellent source, though not a bargain as far as prices go- for lots of fertilizers, natural and non, seeds, amendments, etc.

I have been there but not in several years. I think its near Kirby and 59, right? Actually really close to where I work. They used to have plants too--do they still or not?

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

No close to Bellaire and 610- they do have plants but not tons when I was there- in early spring when I was there they had veggies and few annuals.

Bellaire and 610 close to work too--You know in late August I can always pick something up from there on the way home for you...

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

well you are decent I must say

I picked up granular fertilizer at Cornelius--though I may use alot of it up today--I'm mixing it with the seed germinating mix and starting seeds in 4 x 4's to reduce the amount of watering...speaking of which...need to move sprinklers in back.

decent, huh? some folks would probably debate you on that issue...lol

Yeah what do they know?

I am really new at gardening. I bought 4 rangoon creepers and planted them about 2 feet apart. Now have too many. Want to grow one as a tree. If anyone wants to come cut clippings I am in the Rice area. How does one propagate it and how does one prune to be a tree?

west Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

its definitely not trainable to tree form--at least in my 10 years of exp with it--I've had one, for that long--definitely a rambler

the best way I've found to propagate them (but it sounds like you have enough of them) is this method for roses--exactly the same except use rangoon creepers:

At a nursery in the Rice village area called the Garden Gate there is a Rangoon Creeper tree, a vine that was pruned to be a tree. Guess it would be the easiest to ask the owner of the nursery how she did it. But I am on the computer all day so thought I'd ask here. Will let you know. And will take a picture.

Hi there, I have my rangoon creeper in a large pot for 5 years and it blooms wonderfully, now that I have a house I want to put it in the ground, does anyone know if it will take over everything? Wish the plant did not look so ugly in the winter, but the fragrance and the changing of colors is all worth it.
I am in Bacliff so thats zone 9a. I,to have tried to root and share my beautiful plant but no luck, I will try the air layering method this spring and see if it works, thanks!
Any one knows how clematis will grow here in zone 9a? I just love the dark colors, but I have never seen any!

It grows in a pot! Tell me how big(both the pot and your plant!) I have wanted one for years but don't have a structure in a sunny part of the garden to train it. But I can put a large pot in a sunny place...

hi teacup, my rangoon creeper is in a 5 gal plastic pot and i cut it down every fall because it looks so ugly, even right now the leaves are turning yellow. the plant now is about 30'' tall and 24'' wide. My rangoon creeper blooms in june and in july it will have a few here and there. I have tryed to take cuttings and out of 10, 10 died and was told by someone they are very very hard to propagate.
