She great very end of light tube to natural light, slow grower and bloomer just like Yellows behave and like she always has . I've grown Golden threads a couple years first time to Sport.

WOW Allison, how pretty. I can barely see little babies coming on some of my leaves you sent me...Lauri

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

There is yellow in the eye and light yellow strips, white sparkly with like thin blue lines like in the flower feather.
Oh I wish she was blue with bright yellow stripes !

Thanks Janis ! Babies already Lauri ! Yippee :))

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Blue with light yellow strips would be equally beautiful. That bloom looks so delicate...Lauri

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

I have always loved Golden Threads. But she surprised me this time. Guess she needed a different look for awhile !

Morning Allison,

Good to see you posting again and that Golden Threads is very pretty! I can see the yellow stripes in it. Is it a big flower? Sure looks like it is...very pretty!

TFS!

Joanne

Silver Spring, MD

Looks like it is turning blue! What's up with that?

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Yup it is Sporting Blue , it has white with like blue line/stripe grains very pretty with pretty sparklies and hints of yellow eye and yellow markings .
I checked the AVSA registered Sport List and it was not on it. Might be a new pretty sport !

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Oh reminds me of Sky Diver but more pretty !
Wish we could know who each registered plant's paretns were.
One in every hundred leaves put down are Sports. All Chimeras are Sports. And many thousands of registered plants are Sports !

Silver Spring, MD

Does FC let you know the hybidizer? Maybe you could make contact.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

No they don't
Some regiestries you can find parents of Gessies. And there is the AVSA refistration of Sports but Golden Threads is not on it. A Sport can be grown out three generations and named . It could take years though.

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

Very beautiful! The yellow/blue mix is very subtle...just delightful. TFS, Allison :))

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

WOW!!! Allison that is so gorgeous!!! So are you going to do all the necessary stuff and name that sport???!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

OH I'd like to but I feel it will be too much for me. Or too long of a period of time. But she sure is pretty and was a surprise. Did your's bloom yet ? They came from the same Mom leaf !
To register a Sport takes a lot of work. First you have Mom blooming... Then you have to put a leaf down from her. This new plant will be 1 st. generation ...The baby has to grow up and bloom true. This is another 6-12 good months.
Then this blooming true plant you must take a leaf from this will be generation 2. This is going to take another 6-12 months before you have a blooming plant. And we all know this can take longer.
Then second generation baby has to bloom true. Then you have to take a leaf from 2nd generation Mom and grow another blooming true plant. So there's another 6-12 months.
So the way I figure If I was to put a leaf down today from this new blooming Mom Sport in three years maybe longer I could be ready to register a stable Sport with a new name !.
You can reserve a name and name it while doing this process...
Same with Hybridizing ..lot's of work and time.
I'm sure it would be fun though !

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

Allison if you ask whether mine have bloomed I will have to stop coming to the forum...the shame of it all is too much for me. LOL.

All of my plants, except a very few, are very healthy and beautiful, but alas, they have not bloomed. I am going to threaten them w/...I don't know, something to see if that will force them.

Silver Spring, MD

Maybe you need to tell them who's boss. You give them what for!!! Then love them lots.

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

Well following Allison's advise I did drop one, so we will see if that helps. LOL.
I am going to have get firm w/ them, what is tough love to an AV?

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

April~

Tough love: Go out and pick a weed in flower. Then come in, hold it up, and say very sternly, "Even this weed can make a flower!!" And as you turn away, you say very quietly but loud enough for the AV to hear, "And after all that I've done for you..."

Hey, it used to work for my mother :)))

J.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Sorry April just wanted to know if your's looked like mine .
Maybe re-pot, humidity and light ??
I will try not to ask anymore if you have blooms.

Vero Beach, FL(Zone 9b)

Oh I lOVE it :) it looks even prettier then golden threads usually does :)
Sports are so much fun!

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Thanks Lorry ! I think so too. Most Goldens Threads look white. I love Sports too ! I don't think people relize how many plants they own are named Sports !

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

Wow! Shes a pretty one.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

Thanks Jan ! Would you like her ! I'll send her right off to you. She has lots of buds likes low light or natural :))

Missouri City, TX(Zone 9a)

Thanks for the tough love suggestion! I am going to try that.

Allison, I want to know if mine looks like yours too, but I just can't get the dang thing to bloom. Will try repotting, if that doesn't work I am going to drop it! Or maybe cut some leaves. This must be some sort of bad karma coming around to bite me, LOL. :-((

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

Thanks for your kind offer Allison but I think she wants to stay with her Mama:)

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

AWW you think so ? Mamma is trying to send 99 percent of babies to nice new homes as she has not room and too tired to care for them. AND some how still have about a thousand babies coming lol
So you might get a special box someday :))

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Wow Allison, how many plants do you have?? Your house must be beautiful with everyone in bloom...Lauri

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

I don't have too many . Mostly babies. I call all of them my babies as I grew them by leaf. So you may get a baby from me and it might be blooming but their my babies :))
I am tryimg to just keep a few large, my miniatures and girl leaf, Russian plants. I just can't take care of them and don't have the riim. Sometimes blooming plants come into our bedroom during blooming stage as I am 99 percent bed bound anyway tp enjoy yhem !
God gifted me to grow many babies which I truly enjoy growing and sharing thrm !
The joy of putting down leaves and growing baby plants amazes me an I am thrilled to be able to grow and share them !

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

If Mama needs to find a new home for her, I'd be honored to be step mom someday:)

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

OK cool I am filling boxes everyday to share with Peeps ! I figure I have so many I was meant to share. I can hardlt beleive how many plants and leaves have been shipped out sense Nov 2006.
I wish everyone can keep sharing !
Maybe you woll get your leaves today Jan ! If they are not OK you let me know more will be sent out !

Caistor, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

jannich, love that...stepmom :-) I'm a stepmama too and am honored and can hardly wait for blooms. LOL if I quit looking at them every 10 minutes they may bloom faster....Lauri

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

LOL.I love being a stepmom:)

I look at them all the time too.I'm starting to say" Bloom darn ya" every morning! This morning I saw that South shore rose has a bud.Yehhh.

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

I grew a few more South Shore Rose babies from a leaf i kept ! I gave a couple sent one with beautiful new rose bloom and buds to a Peep today :))
I have one left I think I will keep a nice baby budding up and blooming for the first time ! I just love this plant.
Soon to be a vintage ! And I love the longifolia foliage you don't see often !

Northern California, CA(Zone 9a)

Ali, is that one that I gave you when I was there, remember I had 'golden threads' and 'golden threads sport' that i had in those little 2" pots?

I have to go look at them again. they're inside the house, and I can't remember?

Dunedin, FL(Zone 10b)

No you just game me leaves. And I was sure your Golden Threads was wrong as Golden Threads is not variegated.
This is a Golden Threads I grew by leaf..have many in the past couple years this is last one. Gave one to April from same leaf. She has more yellow today she's a good size plant now even though I gave leaves of her away.
Her foliage is nothing like Golden Threads. I gave many Golden Threads away grown by leaf too. Sent Anita a nice big blooming Golden Threads !
