July 8th Roundup Food

Temecula, CA(Zone 8b)

Okie dokie,

And here's the food thread. Pam and I will be providing cups, plates, silverware, several ice tubs filled with ice, a few cases of bottled water, sodas, tables, some chairs, and would like some input as to the possibility of some live music like mariachi, or other instrumental music played softly. Like last year there will be clean bathroom facilities and our ranch hands will once again use a motorized cart to assist people and plants and stuff to and from cars. Parking will be in a huge lot directly across the road from the ranch again. Friends requiring special assistance will be brought through the upper gates to the property to avoid the stairway to house and garden levels. I'm not sure what folks want to toss on the grills this year, so this thread can also serve as the forum for that discussion. We grill on Mesquite wood here.

best,
don

Good Morning my friend!! Were your ears burning? Donna and I were just talking about the round up and how to have a reasonable amount of food. We could have fed a smallish army last year. Lol. I will be back when I have a bit more time. Shall I bring the doggie treats?! I see one taker.

hiya frogsrus,

Yes my ears were burning....lol. Yes indeed, we had 60 last year and there was food leftover, but it was good that everyone got enough to eat, and the guys enjoyed the leftovers a bunch. This year we'll be renting some more tables and those white chairs that stack so that there is more table space for people to sit and chow down. We learned a few things from last year and will put those lessons to use this year. We'll still have the 50ft long table with shade over half of it for plants and plenty of water available closeby for them as well.

good to see you,
don

btw, please give Donna a hug from us if you speak to her.

The band sounds great!! I would like to know when the food list is opened. I will bring what I can...

Thanks,

Chuck

I am so excited about this! So, food-wise, do folks bring meat for the "Q" and a side dish, or what? I'll sign on for a BIG pot of...well...something! *LOL*

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

I guess it about time that Janice, Don, Pam and I make a decision on what we are going to do about the food.

Last year we had everyone bring some type of side dish or dessert and Janice and I brought the hamburgers and fixings for it. We only had a handful of people eating the meat and most everyone ate all the other great side dishes. lol

So for right now, until we make some decisions, it would be great if everyone could bring some type of dish and also your own drinks, ok?

Janice, Don and Pam.....got any good ideas?

Donna

Temecula, CA(Zone 8b)

hiya weegy12,

Exactly like a potluck....lol.

Donna, Janice......Pam will be dmailing you guys to get your ideas so that we can get this ball rolling so to speak. Happy Mother's Day to all of you moms.

I will bring the tabouli salad I brought to Arlene's (only more of it) -- OK, JasperDale??

~'spin!~
p.s. I should hope there would be left-overs for the ranch hands, them being so helpful to the whole program!
p.p.s. What I'm really waiting to experience is "mariachi... played softly".

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Hi Spin, I'm so happy that you and Blooms will be coming to this RU. It's a lot different than the other ones you have attended at Arlene's and my home. lol

I was also the one that LOVED your tabauli salad, even got to take some home. :-)

Are you guys going to post a food & such list that we can put our names on? I have no imagination when it comes to cooking so if you let me know what to bring, that will help. I'll bring anything. Hoping my DH will come along too. I really want to show him your greenhouse drdon! Can you beleive that July 8th is just about here and can you guys beleive RAIN tonight????? Spring is going out with a bang or what???!!?!? Don and Pam, if there's anything I can do to help prior or whatever, please let me know, you aren't that far away from me that I couldn't drive down and help. I just so appreciate the time and trouble you both go to doing this for all of us. Looking so very forward to the 8th.
