Well, the saying is "when it rains, it pours" and right now I am going to start building an Ark. I know this is not the prayer forum, but it involves my furrbabies.
With everything going on the last couple weeks, I noticed two of the kitties have not been feeling there selves. So today, after finally having a free afternoon, I took Daisy and Dexter to the vet to get checked out.
Daisy May has a severe bladder infection, with gram positive and negative rods in her urine. Her white blood cell count is very high and she is extremely dehydrated. She is one very sick little girl. They gave her subquetanious fluids under her skin, and baytril antibiotic. I will take her back Friday to get checked and most likely be doing SubQ fluids for her through the weekend here at home if she is not any better.
My poor baby Dexter, I took him for an upset tummy. Well, he is very very sick. He has lost almost 3 lbs, his intestines are severely inpacted, there is something strange looking in his stomach...looks fiberous...not sure if he ate something or what is the issue. She said something about megacolon, which I am not familiar with but will look it up on here. They did several xrays which were not good. They are keeping him tonight, doing enemas, putting him on an IV for fluids. There is an area on the xray she referred to as "glassy looking" and didn't like that at all. There was talk of pancreatitus also. When we left...after two hours there....they were drawing blood work, urine and getting him ready for his enema and IVs.
I have been crying ever since we left, we got to the vet at 4:15 and didn't leave there until 6:15! I just wasn't expecting this. This is what happened when we lost his sister Dee-Dee 18 months ago. The first estimate they gave us was $200, after they did the xrays they gave us a new estimate of $600! My poor husband almost fell over. Between him and Daisy, they are so sick...and they really hid it well. Except for Daisy pee'ng in the dogs water dish. I figured it was just stress from the puppy being in the house.
To make matters worse, I got a call from the school today...my son had a run in with the school bully and is very sore and bruised. Both boys ended up in detention (deserved by both).
Shannon is also being scheduled for another ultrasound and a gastric emptying test in nuclear medicine. Next week is the cardiology appointment also. I am so frazzled I have to remember to breath right now. I am so blessed in so many ways, but right now my shoulders hurt.
Please keep my furrbabies in your thoughts and prayers.
Debbie
We could use some prayers please.....
