Everythings Blooming!!!

North Shore of L. I., NY(Zone 6b)

The Lilacs are in full bloom and smell just wonderful. The Wisteria is blooming and looks nice and smells even better!

My Azaleas are in full bloom and many of my viburnums have started blooming also. My Cherry Trees and Crab Apples just finished blooming. My Red Elderberry is blooming, my shrub ground cherries and my Red and Black aronia are blooming. Black elderberries soon to bloom. Lots of Honeysusucle blooming and I have about 20 vines so it looks grand. It looks stunning here in spring.

I'm still waiting. So far not much other than fruit trees in bloom by me. How depressing. I am beginning to finally see growth shooting up so pretty soon things should start hopping over here. Come to think of it, I did notice that some of my Jacob's Ladders have started to bloom and the spring ephemerals are finishing up. Soon, very soon.

Bureau County, IL(Zone 5a)

The lilacs I inherited with this house are just about done. Some of the viburnums are blooming. I guess they gave me a calycanthus at Possibility Place instead of V cassinoides, and it's blooming. My serviceberry was blooming, then somebody snapped it off....so much for that this year. My Geum triflorum has been blooming for quite some time now. I just planted spring ephemerals this spring, so I don't think they'll do much. Can't wait to watch it all unfold this year!

I had quite a few spring ephemerals this year much to my delight. I was expecting a far greater death toll. I love surprises. The Bloody Butchers are blooming now and the few Trillium grandiflora I have will be next. Jacks are starting to come up and they May Apples are up. There is life out there.
