Shot hole treatment

Laceys Spring, AL(Zone 7a)

Can anyone tell me the best available product to use for 'shot hole' fungus treatment for shrubs such as laurels? Also, when is the best time to apply? I've read about Mancozeb but for some reason can't find the specific trade name products. Would appreciate your help. I hate to spray just anything around if the product is harmful to birds, amphibians, butterflies, etc (including me!).

To the best of my knowledge, you may have missed your window of opportunity for spraying. I think, not positive, that should have been done before bud break. Can you call your county extension on that to verify please?

My thoughts are that you might just for the heck of it want to look into a Neem Oil product to tide you over until the time you can spray.

Mancozeb is the active ingredient in Dow's Dithane. It's also the active ingredient in Nemispot and Manzane.

FYI- Mancozeb is a cholinesterase inhibitor. I'd try to avoid using that if possible. I believe it is also carcinogenic.

Thanks for your reply. I also had read a little more about Mancozeb and it's carcinogenic effects, so wanted to avoid that for sure! I have seen Nemispot and probably Dithane on the shelves. Also have some Neem Oil I think, but wasn't sure if it was the same. For some reason I thought I had read about something you could put in the soil, like a granular product, but for the life of me I can't find that info either. Probably dreamed it or had it confused which happens a lot lately. And I was also afraid of just what you said about it perhaps being too late. That's me, always a bit behind with the gardening chores, especially those that aren't so much fun.

A day late and a dollar short, eh? Story of my life. Please call the County extension office and see what they have to say since you have some extra time on your hands.
