MGs & Brick walls?

Nashville, TN(Zone 6a)

Will Morning Glories climb up a brick wall? I was wonder if I need some sort of support structure for them to go up my brick wall? I am planting Flying Saucers.

tiltaman - Flying Saucers as a climbing MG would need something to twine around,as the vines do not produce suction discs tendrils...any simple support like wooden stakes and/or inexspensive garden type wire will work fine...

Hey... thanks for taking time to respone, and the good advice. I was beginning to figure this out after posting my question. Next time, I will do my research before posing any questions.

One of the things I've done in the past where there was nothing for the glories to wind around is to put tent stakes into the ground about 3 inches from the vertical surface and run fishing line up to the top of the structure and secure very securely. I think I spaced mine about 1 ft appart, but don't remember. The first time I did this, I thought I was going to just have columns of MGs, but at about a foot off the ground, they started going somewhat horizontal and attached to eachother and the fishing line and eventually made one solid wall over 10 ft tall. After the first hard freeze, I snipped the fishing line across the top and the wall came down in one mass. Clipped across the bottom and bundled it all off to the trash (didn't have a compost bin in those days). Not sure what I would do about the fishing line if I were going to compost the dead plants. Good luck!

I don't think I have any where to attach the fishing line... as it's a two story brick wall on the side of my condo. (Apartment like setting.) But, thanks for sharing you experience. I was thinking the fishing line would create columns of MGs, too. Knowing that they "expand" as they grow is enlightening. I would love to have a solid wall of vines.
And the clean up... what a snap. Removing the "dead" can sometimes be a real chore with our viney friends.

Thanks again.

David
