VV must be jealous -- I think I see the silent smoke of envy rising into the sky from Kentucky . . .

Gorgous! The woods and azalea look great too.

Yes: context envy.

I want the "borrowed scenery" of the mature woods against which to display the viburnum variations.

All I have is the Bluegrass countryside, littered with horse farms, board fence, and green pastures.

I'll trade anyday

Do I hear a time-share offer?

Its really nice. This is one I don't have yet but your picture makes me want to get one!!!

Hmmm, I am like Levilyla. I have the same background for all of my yard, and would like some open spaces!
Your lovely pic could have been taken in my yard, only I don't have that variety.

Well because of the exposure the back of that Viburnum looks like .....well not much. If it were in full sun it would be a wonderful specimen.

I have room enough that my shrubs have more space at the back of them. I had my DH cut out all the stuff that had grown back of our wood fence in front, so the plantings on the yard side could get more sun. It sure looks better. ( He loves to cut things down. ) :-)

You are very lucky...mine does not. :~)

My SS is still in absolute vivid glory. My "Shasta" is now bereft of any bloom, and SS is showing no signs of stopping. This is a very good shrub.

I was disappointed in mine initially, because I was hoping for a longer-blooming Shasta. When SS failed to spread out, I was perplexed, puzzled, and peaved. At the time, thankfully, I posted on GW my concerns and either Kevin or David5311 set me straight on the value of this plant. If it was you Kevin, thanks!

The summer before last was cool and wet and SS bloomed strongly, non-stop all season long. Last summer was hot and dry, and SS blooming tailed off noticeably. Lesson: for best performance, water and air-condition this plant.

One downside, and a strange one, SS smells terrible. Not the flowers, which have no scent at all, but the plant in general. Smells like sweaty socks that got left in a locker for a week. More than ten feet away, and you won't smell it, but any closer and yuck! So don't plant one right next to your picnic table.

Scott, V.Erie and V.Oneida smell yukky too, but it is their blooms. I made the mistake of planting th Oneida right at the corner of our livingroom, near the bay window. Walking past it when it is in bloom is an experience!

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

LOL I have never noticed that...but maybe I blamed it on something or someone else. I will check today. That is interesting. This one is pretty far from our living area anyway.

Compton, AR(Zone 6a)

LOL, Levilyla, I call it my 'puke' bush! Luckily it was cool enough this year that the windows were seldom open, and I didn't notice it so much.

Baltimore, MD(Zone 7a)

I just went outside and smelled my SS and it has no odor what so ever. Even when I crush the flowers in my hand and smell them. go figure.

Illinois, IL(Zone 5b)

Diffrunt noses smell diffrunt roses . . .
