That's so terrible why do they DO that? My son in law owns a restaurant and they do that with everything around the front.... all little balls.

Elburn, IL(Zone 5a)

Using the clues in Scott's picture, here are the offenders. Vigilantes unite! String them up! Hang them from the highest tree, or hideously pruned bowling ball shrub!

I could use you for some other people...........instead of calling Tony Soprano

Kevin,

You should've been a detective! That's amazing. Does this make me a party to the crime if some tree-hugging lurker actually seeks retribution?

BTW, if some tree-hugging lurker should follow those directions to murder the grounds crew for the Hunter Building, please come visit. I live just around the corner.

If you string up all offenders, could you please give my dad a pass? I'm really trying to get him to realize that if nature wanted plants in shapes, then nature would have made them that way. But if you really do want to string him up also, please at least give him a Bud and a smile :o)

just let him have his balls and his bud

It never ceases to amaze me that folks buy a shrub totally unsuited to the place they want to put it, then chop the heck out of trying to make it fit. I fired the last landscaper I worked with when she kept insisting that I could "prune it to size". Yeah, I guess I could, but why put a 12 ft shrub in a 6ft space in the first place?

The last couple of years I haven't pruned my boxwoods and they're so gorgeous. They hang down all weeping-like instead of being disgusting tight little balls.

Illinois, IL(Zone 5b)

It's so nice to hear of someone who isn't mutilating their boxwoods! Around here Taxus suffers the same indignities. Kevin, what sixth sense did you use to find the culprit? That was great!

Hmmm . . .
I say string him up. And if he's receiving good advice and ignoring it, use Smilax for the rope!

HEY!! That's my dad we're talking about! It takes a while to teach an old dog new tricks, as I'm sure you can attest to. FWIW, I let my boxwoods do their thing, then I yanked em. Why do people insist on planting things less than a foot from a foundation or deck? I have peonies that look like they're growing out of the foundation.

Oh, you're gonna get a whuppin for that sinister insinuation, child!

Take a look back into the anthology of old threads; I'll attach one here that goes into quite a lengthy (but fun, silly, stupid, and inane) explanation of all the ways to "dress up" your posts.

I'll bump it up for all to review.

What blue writing? I use firefox. Are you guys seeing things I'm not? I also heard something about a banner up top. What banner?

Hey grumps, you have to catch me first! LOL!

That looks typical of what the lawn cutters do when they have to trim up shrubs or hedges.
