Bston Ivy an upgrade over Virginia Creeper

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

I finally saw small pots of Boston Ivy for sale cheap and am thinking about replacing my Virginia Creeper with it. Is this an upgrade or wash?

IMHO it's a downgrade.

I agree boston ivy is great if you have The great wall of china and lots of places to plant it around many V Creeper. My favorite vine here in deer pruning Montana. They are never invasive due to the dear deer. On the other side of the fence.

Boston Ivy or shall we call it by it's other common name of Japanese Ivy, hmmm... you better look that one up. Not even good to plant over by your "special" neighbor as it will come over and get you and if you aren't real careful... it might crawl right up the side of your house and snatch your daughter out of her bed at night while she's sleeping.

Here's the Latin name of the plant if you are interested in looking it up- Parthenocissus tricuspidata

Say Big Boy, this Japanese Ivy can put the Ribbon Grass you were going to "gift" me to shame.

It's supposed to be slower growing than VC that I hack on quite a bit to keep in line.

You better start pumping iron to get that hacking arm in shape LOL!

Al another thing I do to keep the V Creeper in control is to turn the tips back into the fence and they are buried in the old vine. Seems to supress tip growth. Though the deer also eat off the leaves down the stalk. My hops when they get too long I take my torch to and that ends their terminal growth.
