Tulip poplar leaf shape

Atmore, AL(Zone 8b)

I have noticed lots of photos online of tulip poplar leaves that have pointed lobes, like the ones in Decumbent's pictures. All of them in my area have more rounded lobes. Could this be a regional difference?

Mine are definitely pointed:

Here's the typical shape of mine.

Yours are weird mutants, Escambia! Did radioactive UFOs ever land in your area? Maybe Atmore is the eastern sister city of Roswell NM!

I once saw a cultivar in Germany that has such leaves, but I can't recall the name.

Almost all of the ones growing wild around here have the rounded edges. The leaf I posted was off of a stump sprout but all of them pretty much look like that.

Es.Guy, maybe you need to market yours!

Here's a sapling I found.

Yes, they're rounded like that in the far southeastern US (and even more so in Florida)

I wonder if they are as hardy as the ones here. Are the blossoms the same?

The blossoms look the same too me.
