A year and a half ago, I purchased two Eastern Redbuds from a quality local nursery. They came and planted them for me. One of them has never bloomed. The other was fine until just recently - some of the buds opened just fine, others seemed to die on the entire branch. There are several branches that the bark is darker and the buds have died on. Help! I have no idea what the problem is or how to fix it. You can bet I'll be calling the nursery, but I was hoping to get some advice from some folks here too.
Here's two pictures. You have to look closely to see the damaged branches.
Thanks so much,
Sofie
what's wrong with my Eastern Redbud?
One likely possibility with redbuds is Verticillium wilt disease. Another is phenoxy herbicide damage. Google those and see if you find anything useful.
Please note that the guarantee period conveniently expired about ten minutes ago, right? That's always the way it goes!
