Crabapple root sprouts

I have crabapple root sprouts all over my lawn. Is there any control besides patiently cutting each one out?

not much,i have the same problum with a cherry i have it comes up allover the place. so every year i cut them off one by one.I dont know why it doze this but it realy bugs me.

There is a systemic herbicide that has a low transfer rate and won't flash back to the main plant, made for just this purpose. It's trade name is "Finale" but I don't know much about it.
