saving the left over seed

Beachwood, OH

How long do you save your seed and how do you do it? This might sound silly but started saving those dessicant packets out of bottles of tylenol, and shoe boxes also. Do you refrigerate or freeze seed or just keep it dry and cool? I have never attempted to be scientific about it and wondered what you all do.

I have 3 shoebox-sized 4x6 index card file boxes, sitting on the floor under my desk, packed full of seeds. I also have an old microwave oven on a shelf in the boathouse, also filled with seeds.

Dry, cool and dark, and you can store most seeds for years.

I also add a couple of packets (can't remember what they are called) that come with new shoes. They help to get rid of extra moisture.
