Not all that common in my area, especially in extensive "thickets." Looks like it would be a nice ornimental but have never seen it used in landscaping locally or offered at area nurseries.
The pic below is one of the few "clumps" that had fully open flowers.

Mapleleaf Viburnum
Wow, nice. Really nice. I tried planting three if these in my mixed shrub border but only one of them lived past the second year. That one is now growing and doing well but is a skinny thing compaired to your picture. I think they work very well in a shrubby border mixed with other viburnums and natives.
I had one that I got from Forest Farm. It only lived for 3 years, then totally died.
