Come Sit A Spell - Early May

I'm sorry your plants got switched...by the time I got there I was afraid you'd be gone...thankfully you were not! I haven't planted a thing here...lol...I think I'll take a little nap. This was another early morning in a string of early mornings..but much more enjoyable than work; funny thing is we ended up at a school too. Must be destiny....I hope I don't even see a school for 2 months. lol

I have to go to Freeport next Friday to evaluate a TAKS science program...anybody know any "must visit" nurseries out that way?

I don't know Debbie, but we are going to Rockport this weekend and I'm looking for nurseries to go to also. We just got back from picking up DD in Mo. She graduated from Cottey College Sun in Nevada Mo. We were late leaving to go up there and couldn't even stop to see Josephine's yard which I was really looking forward to doing. On the way back we were too tired to stop anywhere. So ...I am really ready to go to a nursery.

Marylyn, dmj, you guys did great.
Debbie, don't know nurseries on the way to freeport
silverfluter, following is an excerpt from a dmail I got from 4xthefun, who lives in corpus christi. I had asked her for nurseries to visit back in March. Maybe this will help. I visited Blooms and Blossoms, and Adams. I liked Adams best.

______
I love Rockport. One place I like that doesn't have plants but has great supplies is Spray N Grow. Their warehouse is in Rockport.

In Corpus there is Gill's, Turner's and Fox's nursery. I can give you address to each of those if you like. For roses I like Turner's and Fox's. I have only been to the smaller Gill's and their selection was small and the prices were big.

The yellow pages lists a handful of garden centers in Rockport off Hwy 35 but I haven't actually been to any of them.

Gardens & Gifts 612 S. Church 729-5001
Green Willie's Landscape and Nursery Hwy 35 Bypass & 18th st. 729-7406
Adams Flower Nursery 1515 Hwy 35S 729-7111
Blooms and Blossoms 110 Oak st. 729-0091

Have you ever been to the Corpus Christi Botanical garden? I haven't been yet but have been planning to join.

Check out Fulton Mansion too. There are some old heirloom roses in the surrounding gardens. I might have accidently used my nail scissors to take a snip ;-) they have rooted and are showing their first little green nubs.

Have fun and if you make it into Corpus you ought to give a yell. I might have something you would want a cutting from.

So many nurseries...so little time. lol

I have a moral story for ya'll tonight....never turn your back on thyme...it will dry up and die.

I also somehow killed an echinacea bravado transplant and my brand new million bells (neither of whom suffered from lack of water) potted up into a tera cotta pot. All within the span of one week. Anyone else on a murderous plant killing spree lately?

edited to add--and I guess my hollyhocks are not going to bloom for me this year...first year ever. :(
Debbie
