Blue Picotee

Summerville, SC(Zone 8a)

I love getting up in the morning and going out to the greenhouse! I was greeted by the first flower of Blue Picotee. It hadn't quite opened completely and the color was definitly purple but you can see the blue coming out. The sun hadn't gotten to it yet .. when I saw the bud last night, it was positively RED and I though I had mislabeled the plant.

I always appreciate that flower shape, and the blue shimmer is stunning! I have several plants from seed with a "Red Picotee" label, but have not seen any flowers of this shape, although I'm not sure that all have bloomed. Thanks for sharing! - Arlan

I found a picture of the Blue Picotee last year which I had growing on my chain link fence. Looks alike a totally different flower! The color shift surely is due to the change in spectrum of filtered light in the greenhouse isn't it?

What an awesome shape! I have been passing on the picotees myself because I didn't care for the white edge, but with a star shape...that's really cool!
